Hi there
I'm a player, not a collector. My new years resolution was to build into Legacy so I purchased two Cavern of Souls online to go alongside the two I own. My own two are on the left, the purchased two on the right. I noticed the colour of the new two is slightly darker than my previous two so did a light test (the light is much brighter through my previous two than the new copies).
I still wasn't sure so a friend used an electronic microscope to look at the previous and purchased, comparison shots of both, plus the results of the light test are in the album below:- https://imgur.com/a/sxE7vnL
I'm new to encountering counterfeit cards and no expert so cannot conclude either way. I am throwing this open to the community and hope some of you would be able to assist and point out what you use to check.
- I always use buyer protect when purchasing cards online so I feel quite safe as to my investment in either outcome.
Thanks in advance for the help.
but the clearest difference to me can be seen in the set symbol
one was printed together with the rest and the other one seems to be printed after the rest (where i think thats the original, right ? since i doubt a counterfiter would invest in a more complex printing process)
but i think u should wait for an opinion of a more qualified person
Hi, I just made an account because I had to reply to this.
Take a close look at the "1" in the mana symbol of the first effect. It's larger and the number is hugging the top of the symbol.
Take a look at the centering of the tap symbol; it's different too.
And lastly, to be 100% sure, you want to shine a cellphone light through the card and examine the difference. The card on the right will almost certainly block way more light than the two on the left, and that will unfortunately confirm your suspicion that it's probably a counterfeit.
Card is 100% fake. The font and letter spacing on the right card is way off. Letters look thinner. Main tell. These are Chinese gen 9.0 proxy. I bet card smells like plastic. I got these in my hands since I live in that part of the world.
As well, shadowing effect above card name box is too smeared and looks like oversaturated yellowish photoshop homemade mass production proxy. Still a long way to go to make it right in Shenzhen print shops.
