Left one is Beta Birds of Paradise.
Right one is Beta Natural Selection. Natural selection looks like every beta card I have checked. The blue line is all warped, not straight, and cards edges are not very straight either. While as Birds of paradise (left one) not only Blue line is surpasingly straight, edges as well, but also it is much thicker. What do you think?. Is it possible it is still a legit card?. Anyone seen this before?. Both the rosette pattern and the transparency test look legit to me on the Birds. I spotted a reback not long ago, but I would say I dont see any sign of it on the Birds, as it has no trace of glue on any border(they all look like the segment on picture at all their lengths), the corners look legit, not recut, and the transparency also ok.
Please anyone seen this? or knows about it?, a beta card being 30-40% thicker is possible?.
I dont have a precision weighing machine to check weight unfortunantly but birds definitly must be heavier.
Those look more than Near Mint, they look like freshly out of the press and brand new cutters !!!
Black look maybe too black.
Were they freshly out of a pack ?
I don't have any authentic 93 Beta's that don't "look old"
How does the card feel ? Texture, gloss, close up look at the blacks with a jeweler's loupe ?
I don't have those cards in Beta, so can't provide images to compare.
Here is a side view I made of a revised dual land fake I got from eBay. I know it's a white border, but as you mention, the thickness looks a bit like what you describe (not the same ratios per layer)...
Birds(left, or lower one) is nm-, the upper one NAtural Selection is nm+. I didnt pulled them out from booster myself, They purchased from 2 different sellers.
The suspicious one to me, Birds of Paradise, feels good in hand, ok texture and gloss.
I put some surface pics. They look ok to me, but if it is a reback they have to be ok as they were printed by WOTC as well.
In your pic it looks odd to me the above one. Very straight non-warpedup blue line, kind of like in my case.
I sent the card to a grading company so I will know for sure what it is within some days ahead hopefully.
For rebacks, I would have to feel it out. You're not going to be able to tell from the rosette.
I know you mentioned the texture and light test seem fine, but those are the most reliable tests to discern rebacks, and we can't really judge those here.
Other than that, its a little suspicious how thick that birds is compared to the real one.
