I bought an altered revised Underground Sea online a few months ago, after it arrived I have been more and more suspicious that it is a fake. The front is largely covered in paint so it is not very useful to look at anything but the text box, this also makes it unreasonable to try the bend test. The portion of the text box that seems more pixilated, ever so slightly darker, and a tiny bit more blurry than the other sea I am testing against. I tried the light test (on the textbox only pretty much) and it was basically the same as a known real one. The back of the card is really what I am sceptical about. It feels much glossier than any other revised card I have ever felt and seems a bit too 'new' for a piece of cardboard thats been around for 20 years. The biggest thing is the border on the back which is darker and much much glossier. I have included pictures to try to help, but I dont know how much of it can be seen. I would love feedback since I may be able to get a refund.

I would also be pretty suspicious due to the back. Quite often alters are done on played cards to make them prettier, not on pack mint ones, so that's unusual.
On the front, unfortunetaly there's not enough detail to give you an clear answer. The black text in the text box is pretty decent, but bit faded compared to the other one. The easiest way to tell fakes is usually to check the box edges, which are completely covered in this case and I could not zoom in enough to check the mana symbols. The card name seems legit, at least to this detail level. The shadowing seems believable, but again some paint blocks it on some parts, so really hard to tell.
I would suggest that you take a loupe or a good magnifying glass and check few things. First on front the black and blue mana symbols. On the back of the card check the colored dots the green one should have a small magenta pixel inside and the TM should go over the ovoid, not behind it etc. There are literally dozens of details, which are all hard to fake.
I know this thread is almost a year old. A few things you can do. Find another card out of revised especially a land. Either get a jewlers loop which are about $10 on ebay, or just do a super high res scan of the card on a scanner. With either you will be able to see the rosette pattern that they used when they print cards. You should be able to see the rosette on the text of the card because they don't paint over the text. Who did this alter? I am having an issue with some cards I bought on ebay recently. Glendora alters definitely faked a Nimbus Maze and a Twilight Mire...not nearly as expensive as Sea. but annoying the none less.

Hopefully this helps a little.
