As a person who plays almost exclusively EDH, I have to say, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Coldsnap. I think it contains a lot of design innovations and fun, quirky cards that were overlooked because the set, as a whole, was massively underpowered and unfocused, especially on the heels of the very tightly designed Ravnica block.

There was some very amazing stuff going down. I wish I had purchased more of it. Recover was a solid mechanic that I'd love to see return. It does add a lot of complexity to the graveyard, which I think is good. Made limited very skill testing outside of forcing ripple.Coldsteel Heart solid in EDH. Same with Adarkar Valkyrie. Commandeer is especially fun.

Karplusan Minotaur kind of gets much of the love, but a couple of the other double-pitch spells have cool applications - don't sleep on Fury of the Horde or Allosaurus Rider. S paved the way for C and snow is nothing if not wacky and fun as a supertype.
I wasn't playing back then, but aside from it being laughably weak, I like it. Ripple is neat, I love Snow, art was interesting. it had a lot of cool stuff, a lot of potential. they don't do sets like that, that just feel different from the rest. new sets aren't bad, most of them beat the pants off of Coldsnap for power, but even the best are cookie cutter

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I use Commandeer in my Nezahal competitive deck (T1 Sol Ring steals and such are great, late game stealing things like Cyclonic Rift or some combo piece is great). Dark Depths is pretty infamous. Arcum Dagsson is still considered a really broken commander, and of course who could forget Zur the Enchanter? Mishra's Bauble has become a modern staple of sorts as well. Scrying Sheets is a mono-color staple in commander for people running snow lands. I definitely still toss Coldsteel Heart into decks, and sometimes even Braid of Fire. I really liked the set. A bit of a train-wreck in limited, but a lot of fun cards in it.
I'm a huge hipster when it comes to Magic (my greatest joy is playing cards my opponent hasn't heard of), so I'm a big Coldsnap fan for being possibly the weirdest set printed. I remember being super excited about Ohran Viper, since at that point, the last time green got card draw was like Hystrodon.
Awful limited set. I remember doing well at day of our tiny nationals, top slot or so, and got screwed sat next to someone who drafted every snow land that came his way, he fed me, meaning I had every pack passed with no snow basic 14 times. Needless to say his deck was a mess, as was mine. Every time I drafted that format someone gambled and won the pod 3-0 with a ripple heavy deck, but there was no skill in it, you could not get rewarded for avoiding ripple and letting people fight over them, everyone drafted the ripple cards and whoever got most just won. There was one tribal deck too iirc, if two people went for it it was garbage. That was the archetype breakdown, ripple, ripple, ripple etc. There were so many fun rares with zero limited application.
It also heralded the 4th standard set every year, didn't it?
From the beginning, I loved Rune Snag and Rite of Flame the most. But as time went on, I learned to love Dark Depths the most. I probably still love Rite of Flame, but it just is too damn good!

Though I've come to realize it has some serious design flaws, I cannot help but love the flavor.
I recall that Gamestop was still selling Magic cards at the time and would mark down the ones that didn't sell well, so that always included Coldsnap so of course I bought a bunch of them. And then I was watching eBay and found a box of the preconstructed decks really cheap. I even remember when the delivery truck came with it, I was outside mowing in the late summer heat, and I stopped to open this box of winter themed cards
Speaking of those preconstructed decks, I especially loved seeing the old Ice Age and Alliances cards printed in the new frames. My Ice Age block box has them all put together and it makes a fascinating looking collection.
I know it didn't go over well for WOTC, but I hope we can see another snow themed set, especially so we can get the rest of the snow themed taplands.
Phyrexian Soulgorger, another card I liked in the set. The phyrexians built a freaking giant robot dinosaur. It's a robot, so it doesn't freeze to death in the snow.
One card I haven't seen mentioned it that seriously pulls its weight in my Abzan hatebears EDH deck is Hibernation's End. Plus, bonus points for inventively using cumulative upkeep.

Did not know that a card like Hibernation's End existed. That's creative use of cumulative upkeep cost. A creature comes out from "hibernation" in your deck, for each turn the cost is paid.
Can we get some love for the set that gave us such weird and wonderful cards as Karplusan Minotaur, Thrumming Stone and Herald Of Leshrac?
Cumulative Upkeep especially with costs that are not manacosts provides a very broad field of mechanics and the cards are overall very neat.

I loved these cards. I also loved Braid of Fire, Dark Depths, and Rimescale Dragon. Good stuff.
