Also ran into my Fire Imp that I used to play when I was first learning the game. He's probably still decent given he is a mini Kavu.
Anyone else got any particular favorites from the past?

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
1. Phyrexian Gargantua - as a newbie to magic those many years ago. I'm glad to have cast him, eventhough I lost that game. Just smething awesome about a giant robot that is feared even by it's own kind. I'm referrring to the flavor text of the Apocalypse printing.
2. Choking Tethers - we used to joke about this in our playgroup about the card suddenly becoming real and become cast on someone. We used to play a "real game" back in elementary school where we try to tie up each other with the loose chains found near the school flagpole... not joking, we were crazy as kids.
Squee, Goblin Nabob. The card was so good with Masticore during that time in Standard and just opens up a lot of ways to abuse him.
Emrakul, the Aeon's Torn. Outside of Big Furry Monster, he's the biggest, baddest creature that the game has. Many players have seen this guy swinging their opponent into scooping.
Griselbrand. Just a super powerful card. Spawning a deck where you draw your deck and win in Modern or draw enough cards to essentially win in Legacy, he's just doing too much. May be the best creature in the game since he's essentially a Yawgmoth's Bargain on a creature.

Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
Pardon? Borderguard requires you to already control a number of kithkin (a tribe which only had 16 cards prior to Lorwyn block, and all kithkin printed since then have bee reprints), while Elenda just wants any other creatures to die while she's in play.
this isn't a favorite of mine for gameplay reasons, but Werewolf Ransacker has one of my favorite illustrations ever. I bought a foil one yesterday just for the art.
Aside from that, I also love Sigiled Paladin both for its incredible art and I'm nostalgic for Shards of Alara, when I played Magic with high school friends and life was simpler Shards and Lorwyn are like that for me.

I don't know why, but Painter's Servant's (original) flavor text makes me incredibly sad. I started out with Shadowmoor, which is a melancholy and atmospheric set even without the contrast of Lorwyn.
On that note, Wheel of Sun and Moon also holds a place in my heart as the rare from my first booster pack.
Personal Incarnation - One of the first cards I saw that blew my mind. Erhnam Djinn - I used to beat them down with this Djinn back in the day. Kjeldoran Outpost - Make a soldier token again and again? I'm in.
Kinsbaile Borderguard, Cenn's Heir, Kithkin Zealot, Knight of Meadowgrain, and Wizened Cenn all popped out in the remnants of an old white deck I had. Honestly, I forgot they did this thing with under powered creatures before that they mimicked with vampires. Kinsbaile Borderguard is so much better than Elenda, the Dusk Rose, though. Not going to lie, Lorwyn felt like they did tribal so much better in hindsight than the current batch of tribes in Ixalan.

From the broader past (Modern): Vampire Nocturnus.
From all the way back: Devouring Strossus.
I'm always fond of cards that scratch the brink of awesome but don't quite cut it in the end.

Rathi Dragon. Liked the art and the flavour text.
Rolling Thunder. Liked the art (the older Tempest art)
Exhume. Cool art.
Mana Breach. Liked the flavour text from Exodus.
Order of the white shield, order of the sacred torch and Knight of Dawn. Because the art is beautiful.
Erhnam Djinn - I used to beat them down with this Djinn back in the day.
Kjeldoran Outpost - Make a soldier token again and again? I'm in.
Other cards I like are Shahrazad, Wildfire, Garruk Wildspeaker and that cycle from alara, the big mythic one that had Empyrial Archangel and Godsire in it
