Oh,while pondering about what Rezzahan said, I think I came up with a solution. So, if you use you altered egos to copy the 'progenitor mimic norn', every ego you cast will generate a new norn at your upkeep due to mimic's ability. In that way you can actually outpace their norn advantage. They get one a turn from the original progenitor mimic, but you get one for each AE you cast.
There was a solution after all.
EDIT: no there wasn't. Sigh.
EDIT2: wait, there is. Even if your norn copies die, there will eventually be enough copies being made that, when the state-based actions are checked, they will kill all creatures from the opponent. There you go.
Nope, unfortunately, since SBAs are checked after each single copy is created, before the next one arrives. Because each is created by a triggered ability and players get priority in between, so SBAs are checked in between.
Damn. So close. You're right, each copy is a different trigger.

The point of the puzzle was to create a lock as solid as possible, not to pose a riddle only the maker knew the answer to. It was even updated when Genesis Hydra was printed, because that briefly provided an out.
Which would be fine, except the first place I saw this was on a LGS's facebook page. They offered a gift card reward and definitively stated they had a working solution. Now a bunch of people are upset because it looks more and more likely that that isn't true.
did this in 30 minutes
grind up to 6 island and 1 mountain
play Sphinx of the Final Word which cannot be countered and prevents spells getting countered
play Cyclonic Rift next turn
play shock(this or next turn)
BOOM
I WIN
GIVE ME MY REWARDS SUCKAS
where is this lgs facebook and can they deliver to europe?!
So, you come up with a way to cast an uncounterable creature that gets -18/-18 as soon as it enters? What is your plan for keeping the Sphinx alive until your next turn?

Sphinx dies to Elesh Norn copies' -X/-X abilities.
I will say that command zone is part the official rules now. It's where plane-walker emblems are put. The challenge does not mention anything about banned lists. So if we assume there is no banned list. This is the the simplest solution I can think of.
So I would construct a deck that would consist of one Double Stroke name cyclonic rift. Also start the game at billion life then play islands each turn till I can cast cyclonic rift overloaded.
113.2. An effect that creates an emblem is written “[Player] gets an emblem with [ability].” This means that [player] puts an emblem with [ability] into the command zone. The emblem is both owned and controlled by that player.

"Here’s the scenerio:
I have no hand, no library, 1 life, and all eighteen permanents below at the start of the game.
You have no hand, any amount of starting life you want, and any cards you want in your library in any order you want them. In fact, when you draw a card, you can choose which card you draw from your library. You start with no permanents on the battlefield. There are no miscellaneous cards in this game (planes, schemes, vanguards, conspiracies, commanders, un-cards, etc). I will take turns as normal, but I will take no actions during any turn. I will only use triggered and static abilities. Your job is to win the game against me. But the clock is ticking…"
It is unsolvable, people. There are numerous ways you can win if you take liberties with the set up: starting with a card in your graveyard allows you to win, as does having a commander, or somehow starting with Leyline of Lifeforce in your hand. If you want to go strictly by the rules as presented, it cannot be done.

That's definitely the LGS's problem, as this puzzle has been around for at least a good solid pile of years, if not longer, and almost certainly didn't originate with that store. I would have to guess they THOUGHT they had it solved, like has happened in this thread several times, or maybe it was during one of the iterations where there was briefly a new card that required a new lock in the next version.

I agree. I think it was a very poor choice by them to post this and claim to have an answer without double-checking. As far as I know, they've now admitted they've made a mistake and will be awarding prize(s) to people who responded. How they'll decide who to reward is going to just be nonsense and I don't really want anything to do with it. At this point all I know is I won't be supporting them for awhile.

While this whole thing was ill-advised, I am kind of interested to know what they *thought* the solution was. I wonder if they will ever tell us what they initially believed the solution to be.
I say it's too vague. It makes no mention of the conspiracy cards being banned. Keep mind all 25 conspiracy cards are on the vintage and legacy banned list. If we assume no banned list magic double stroke makes it possible. Now if you feel if that's in the spirit of the puzzle. That's an other question all together, but as written I don't see why they would be excluded.

The laid out rules do state that there are no conspiracys. Also conspiracys in your deck don't do anything. Its not the "spirit of the puzzle", its the laid out rules and the rules of the game.
Unfortunately, I could not find an uncounterable Arcane spell, but that is something I hadn't seen mentioned before.
Rules Lawyer has the same problem as everything else: how do you get it to resolve? And, I am pretty sure Un cards are outside of scope for this problem anyway.
my last suggestion btw, if you can safely get ixidron to resolve you are good.
another idea is to cast a spell that COPIES genesis hydra which byspasses the namejam
another idea is to cast a spell that COPIES genesis hydra which byspasses the namejam
Except that the reason Genesis Hydra is specifically Meddling Maged is that it's a cast trigger, so even if you could somehow make a copy of it, it wouldn't break the lock.
Not sure how it works with layers, but if you can unmorph (doesn't use the stack, so how does the timing work?) a creature before SBE's kill it, Coral Trickster does the trick if you can get it into play (via manifest maybe?).
Unmorphing doesn't use the stack, but you still need priority to do it. The 2/2 dies before you get priority.
Also, getting the morph creature into play still has the problem of Erayo. You can't have the morph spell be uncounterable, and there are no uncounterable manifest effects.
guys how about this: suspend Hypergenesis
and in response to hypergenesis when it resolves, cast ANY instant to absorb the counterspell
the suspended card HAS to resolve. dunno the rulings but if i get the benefit of the doubt the card resolves
cheat onto the field any boardwiping creature like ixidron
pass turn
oponent loses due to emty library
win
in any other case i see two other possibilities
play the land that makes you ignore all errata (too lazy to check if that changes anything
don't play an instant as the wiki keeps reffering to playing the card rather than casting it
