This isnt politically motivated, but we just happened to be bringing down an punishment usually reserved for criminal behavior on someone who is political?
No, WotC is laying down a punishment against someone who willfully and repeatedly made antagonistic comments toward others in the community and who set an example for his rather sizable audience to follow. I don't know why you keep trying to insist this was politically motivated.
Explain how all of the "evidence" doesnt have political undertones. Or have you never heard of antifa?
I never heard of Antifa. I'm serious. Maybe jsut an ignorant eprson but its not impossible for someone to have no knowledge of soemthing. Also what does it have to with his banning?
So if you were going to make a video and mention it, you wouldnt even be bothered to look it up?
Well whatever your stance in this situation, Travis Woo shouldn't the one getting the short end of the stick. He was really neutral in this situation while not condoning MTGHQ and just watching the circus burn. WotC acting like SJW should not be the response while this *****storm is happening. This just helps the other extreme case and makes people who could be potential allies or neutral people go away from your position.
Even if anyone believed Travis was on the wrong here, he did acted in ways that showed some change, so the punishment was unnecessary. He didn't double down or acted immaturely. He reacted as someone looking for some positive outcome and not willing to harm or offend excessively anyone.
Again, it's sad when those *****storms happen, only dumb people continue to do their thing while the good people are leaving or forced to do so. It just shows the smallness of the community as a whole and it's not like WotC is doing hot to afford these happenings to go on as well.
Eh, while I think a year-long ban is a bit harsh, I also have a hard time feeling bad for him. He, at best, just doesn't have any sort of long-term thoughts on the consequences of what you do.
Look, let TWoo be a lesson: Be careful what you sign your name to, and be very certain that it is something that you want to be associated with. It's not an SJW line, this has always been the case. Something like this would have ruined his reputation 20 years ago. Don't be fast and loose with what you put your name to, and do not neglect something that could damage it. As I said, this is nothing new. People will judge you on your reputation, and that is in no small part the people whom you associate with.
Plenty of magic players are dicks and dont recieve lifetime bans and have their MTGO account revoked.
What is your point? Some people get overlooked for punishment by WotC so ALL players should be immune to punishment? That's absurd.
This isnt politically motivated, but we just happened to be bringing down an punishment usually reserved for criminal behavior on someone who is political?
Many cheaters/dicks in a card game communities tend to not get a ban as swiftly because they keep a low profile and don't make as much noise about it on social media. Jeremy decided to be louder and cause more problems than perform damage control. Like he was trying to win a race to become top priority on their "To Ban List". I was expecting a 1-5 year ban, which is more of a slap on the wrist. But lifetime banning? Man that is a spicy meatball.
Honestly I think it's pretty scary that you can get banned for wrongthink. And if you don't even need evidence then how is wizards going to prevent people from abusing the system?
Imagine this: You didn't get enough points to qualify for the second round of a tournament (a guy beat you by one point). Well you just goto the tournament organizers and claim that the guy harassed you because your sexual identity/race/other ***** you make up and you couldn't concentrate on the game. And voila the guy gets banned you qualify for the next round.
Guys, I've effectively quit Magic at this point. Like, I sold 90% of my cards and haven't played in almost a year. But this still managed to reach me! I occasionally watch MTG videos and Jeremy's ban video came up in my recommended section. The Professor, which is the main channel that I do watch, laid the heart of the matter out nicely. Someone was hurt bad enough by Jeremy's repeated, unsolicited, and frankly quite crude criticisms to leave the MTG community and that person was a highly visible and well liked individual. I work with 1st graders at an after school program and we work hard to foster a sense of community between the kids themselves and with the adults who care for them. They all can tell you that doing something mean is bad for the whole community because if one person is hurt then the rest must take stock of the situation and form a layer of social protection. Jeremy has benefited from way too much social protection within the MTG community for way too long. One thing I always have to remind the kids about is that even when you don't agree with someone or they make you mad you have no right to punish them. Jeremy has the right to free speech but at the same time he has no right to question Christine's level of worth to the MTG community or shame her for the way she raises money. One of my favorite cosplay creators, Cat Cosplay, recently asked for money from their followers because they were taking on a lot of projects, which said followers asked for, and their 9 to 5 wasn't cutting it. So Christine's request isn't unusual nor is it a plea for attention. The thing that bothers me the most is that I think Jeremy unconsciously went after Christine because she's a woman and women are perceived as more vulnerable. A.E. Marling, a male MTG cosplayer, raises money the same way Christine does and Jeremy hasn't gone near him. So clearly Jeremy sensed that Christine was emotionally vulnerable and decided to make bullying her a thing because she didn't fight back. Becoming "internet famous" because some guy is making fun of you or just doesn't like you can be downright dangerous and there should be some consequences for putting another person at risk just to get thumbs up and subscribers.
Cheers Sally folks, I've missed you and it's sad that it took an outrage for me to return.
Well, the issue with wizards rather uncanny valley attempt at being "inclusive" in terms of nationality and gender is a fun subject to talk about, that is more of it's own can of worms and isn't even being pushed by the same group that is in charge of making the cards.

I see Jeremy repeatedly drawing attention to a female cosplayer, insulting her, and commenting on her appearance for no real reason.
As for Antifa, I had never heard of them until a woman was murdered in Charlottesville by a white supremacist driving his car through a crowded street. I have no idea why you continue to bring them up as they have no bearing on the current conversation. What, exactly, is your point?

Fortunately that's not what happened, and fortunately Jeremy has a long history of actually insulting people and putting it up on Twitter and Youtube.
Only in a world of pure childish entitlement would someone claim what you claimed as being similar to Jeremy's situation. Only a world of childish entitlement would someone equate punishing poor behavior as being somehow unfair.

Its a group that targets people attending conservative events like the notorious alt-right neo-nazi Ben Shapiro.
Just be honest, your still mad about losing an election so Jeremy is your Trump stand in and your happy he got what he "deserved".

Okay, lets back away from this for a second and look at what Jeremy really got banned for.
1) He didn't get banned for talking bad about wizards products (everyone has been talking bad of their products including people that are getting sponsored by them. No one is getting banned because of critique.)
2) He didn't get banned because of supporting other competing card games.
3) He most certainly didn't get banned for having a political view.
Jeremy got banned because he singled out a group and made it his duty to make them feel unwelcome in the MtG community. On top of which, he brought politics with him and I can tell you right now the last thing anyone wants when coming home and trying to zone out with their favorite past-time is to be inundated in gender politics and rabble rousing. The damage this guy did to the community and potentially wizards bottom line is going to be felt for a good long time.
So basically, he's not getting banned for harming the sale of MtG, he's being banned for being a bad human being and the damage to MtG is more of a side effect of this.

The real world that the vast majority of adults operate in doesn't treat people who act like Trump fairly well, at all. Trump is an atypical result. You know why he atypical? I do. He has a lot of damn money that allowed him to weather the great many storms through out his life that people without said money could not afford. Jeremy getting his comeuppance is not vengeance. It is business as usual. It's how the world treats people who are intentional asses. If you have money, you can skirt around this, or perhaps even market it. If you don't, you are SOL.
Go to your job, act like Jeremy or Trump, and see how far it gets you. Seriousy, go right now. If you don't have a job, then I assume you are too young to realize this. So go to your teacher. Hell, go to your parents. Even staunch conservatives are going to knock you down a peg, and you will lose your damn job. Hell, most staunch conservatives are likely to physically put you down a peg. In the real day-to-day world, nobody wants to hear this nonsense and nobody cares.
Life isn't fair, nobody owes you anything, nobody deserves anything, and grow up. If you don't act like an adult, you will be treated like a child. Contrary to what you may think, the last election didn't change this fact at all. What you are proving to me is that actually think that because the President was elected that the world fundamentally changed. It didn't.
Jeremy is getting punished because he broke the rules. He was an ass, and made every effort to prove he had no intention of not being an ass. Thus he gets punished for being an ass. I will shed not a single tear for him, and I will not shed a single tear for any entitled child who thinks they are owed some level of respect that they didn't earn.
And again thats fine but I just wish there was more honesty, Wizards of the coasts should just admit they arent interested in your opinion if its conservative and they dont want you to be part of the "community".

Does not mean there aren't repercussions for what your say or how you say it. It's called "Society". It's also called others excercising their freedom of speech by not associating with you.
That said, if you honestly think that acting like an ass is central to conservatism, then of course you would think that Jeremy is being persecuted. Because somehow you convinced yourself that the only way to be a conservative is to be an ass, and that the ideology does not go deeper than that.

I think a lot of the points he brings up in regards Wizards of the Coast pushing an agenda and its satellites kow-towing to that agenda are legitimate.
I also think that Wizards of the Coast through its official forums on Reddit and other means seeks to quash dissent against that, labeling anyone who disagrees with it a troll.
I think Wizards of the Coast uses the same tactics of the rest of the left and uses labels to shut down any criticism and that if your worried about people labeling you as such you wont say anything.

What? All he did was post (too edgy for some) memes on his twitter and made edgy criticisms on his channel on youtube. He didn't send his tweets or links to his videos to Sprankle. Unless Sprankle was following Jeremy on twitter or subscribed to him on youtube I don't even see how she knows Jeremy exists.

In this case, Jeremy fully admits to. He calls himself a troll. I don't need Reddit to tell me that. Come on now. Claiming that he is being unfairly labled a troll when he fully admits to being a troll, and his supports fully admit to him being a troll, is just a damn joke.
I think Wizards of the Coast uses the same tactics of the rest of the left and uses labels to shut down any criticism and that if your worried about people labeling you as such you wont say anything.
And yet that is the same damn thing the right does by labeling everything an SJW conspiracy, by calling people who disagree SJWS cucks, and by refusing to engage in any conversation about actual criticism on actual policy as being sore losers for the election/"liberal tears", rather than actually addressing the points being made. Irony, much?
Onto the serious point, you are willing to forgive Jeremy's discretions because you view your political beliefs as being under attack. Which is why you fundamentally ignore that he broke the CoC by insulting people, constantly, and doing so unreprentently and making it clear he is going to keep doing so. Even if I were to accept the notion that he did nothing wrong before Christine called him, the simple fact of the matter is that he decided to break the CoC on multiple occasions last week by insulting people directly. And he did so while making it absolutely clear he has no intention of stopping.
If someone breaks the CoC intentionally, and flat-out tells you that they have no intention of following it in the future, then there really isn't much of a point of having a defined banned period. Part of a punishment is to correct behavior, after all, and he has made it clear that he has no intention of not continuing her current insults. Whether or not insulting people is the worst thing in the world is neither here nor there; it is against the CoC, he knew this last week, and he decided to go for broke. Barring everything that happened before, his decisions last week were more than enough to warrant action. The severity doesn't even matter, as he indicated quite clearly he has no intention of following the rules that Wizards set forth. So he is not coming back.

2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Freedom of speech is a central tentant of liberalism and conservatism seeks to protect that so yes?
Sure.
One of the examples that the professor uses as evidence of Jeremies harassment is him talking about a Wizards of the Coasts employee asking about finding Antifas social media presence wanting to find out what they are about and if they are really as bad as people say.
Good for you to believe that. As long you aren't been an ******** and saying ***** to other people you will be fine. Jeremy crossed the line acording to alot of people and specially acording to wizards and that line was been a dick to others..
In this case, Jeremy fully admits to. He calls himself a troll. I don't need Reddit to tell me that. Come on now. Claiming that he is being unfairly labled a troll when he fully admits to being a troll, and his supports fully admit to him being a troll, is just a damn joke.
So is someone wanting to know what Antifa is about? Jeremy made it sound like she wanted to join them or something. Maybe she wants to? I don't know, i only know she wanetd to know about the group.
I challenge you to go make a thread or voice that opinion on the official Wizards of the Coast forum.
Because you will be banned.
I think he got over his skis but then again if it was someone asking the same questions about the kkk or the alt-right I dont think it would pass so easy.
