I don't know anywhere else to post this, but it's a question I need answered. If I attack with a Vampire Nighthawk, and they block with a Scrapskin Drake, the drake would, under normal circumstances, die. But after the blockers are declared, but before damage is assigned, my opponent plays Turn to Frog, targeting my Nighthawk. Would the Frogged Nighthawk die, or would it deal one damage to the opponent, because the drake can only block creatures with flying?
Your Nighthawk will deal 1 damage to the Scrapskin and the Scrapskin with deal 2 damage to the Nighthawk. The Nighthawk will die and the Scrapskin will live.
The restriction on blocking only applies to being declared as a blocker. That legality check was done, and passed, when it was declared as a blocker. After that, the restriction is ignored in the sense that the game will not keep re-evaluating the block to be sure it is legal. It was legal when it needed to be so the Scrapskin will keep blocking the Nighthawk even though the Nighthawk is no longer flying.
