Today I plan to pick up an Hour of Devastation pack, but not sure which to choose from.
Bundle Pack Pros: I get the special spindown die, the box and the booklet of all the cards, along with booster packs.
Cons: I don't need all those land cards and not sure if boosters in this set are of lower or same quality. Anyone know?
Booster Box Pros: Lots of cards. Better chance of getting something awesome. Never done it before, could be lots of fun!
Cons: Cost, no spindown die, no booklet, no awesome storage box.
I would love to get both. Maybe I will in the long run, though I would have tons of commons I will likely never use. Lately I have been just purchasing singles. The next set sounds more intriguing to me. Dinosaurs and Pirates? Heck yeah! And the Unstable set. I can't wait for those! do know Unstable can't really be played, but I love the wit of them and to me they are the ultimate collecting card! So, any advice?
I would just buy a box and get the peripherals separately. I like having my own specific D20 that's not necessarily a spindown and there are many nice deckboxes and collection boxes out there to choose from.
If you like cracking packs, or if you're planning on drafting them, get the box. If you just want playables, you can right now get playsets of commons/uncommons from HOU on EBay for about $40, then spend the remainder on the rares and mythics you want as singles. If you're looking to play Standard, you're probably best served by buying the playsets and whatever singles you need.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
Booster boxes have 36 packs. Given they are usually around $100. Or about $2.80 per pack. Compared to a bundle with 10 packs and a typical price of about 40$, you are getting much better bang for your buck with booster boxes if you can overcome that higher barrier of entry.
