Hey folks, just wondering if anyone has any decklists or knows of any notable decks from within a few years of the Urza's cycle that were built to abuse Gaea's Cradle ?
I remember seeing some White-Weenie Rebel lists (Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero and friends) that used Cradle to help activate the "training" abilities on several of the creatures. I think there was also an Elfball deck (make tons of mana from Elves, spend it on a big thing to win) in Standard or Extended around that time, but I'm not sure.
I mean, it's not like it requires much effort to abuse. Play a bunch of creatures. Play green spells. Add some mana sinks if you want to get fancy. Done.
(note that the deck above is not really historical, as it abuses the reletatively recent legendary rule -- you can tap a cradle, play another cradle and sac the old one; that was not possible during cradle's initial run).
You ould check the legacy forums if there are newer (but certainly not "historically significant") decks. You could try Patrick Chapin's deck, which is the closest thing to a pro deck there is for cradle.
yeah ok thanks. What I meant by 'historically significant' was I thought there may have been some fairly powerful green based tournament decks that resolved around the use of Gaea's Cradle, much like the Academy deck was based around Tolarian Academy. (I realise that Tolarian Academy was a lot more abusive because of it's insane synergy with cheap artefacts and blue library manipulation.)
Part of what made Tolarian Academy so broken back then was Great Whale and then Palinchron.
Without the untap mechanic Academy wouldn't have made the splash it did. There was nothing in green that abusive.

Note that a couple of cards in that deck are banned/restricted, so chances are if you want to play it outside casual you might not be able to.
