I hope I am posting this in the correct section! As a noob I am curious as to what everyone brings with them to their Gaming Nights or FNM. What kind of decks and how many? What kind of dice and how many? How do you keep your cards separate? How do you store them? What do you carry it all in and what brand, if you know it?
I was triggered by this after several FNM's playing EDH and Standard, and noticed how most players brought 2+ decks with them, some in various knapsacks and others in what looks like heavy duty bags made just for card boxes galore! One of our players totes about a dozen decks with him, plus a box of gorgeous dice and a box full of token cards. Very organized. Others have their cards stuffed in a single bundle box with only 1 spin down die and no counters. Everyone is different and it interests me. Most are prepared so that whatever kind of game breaks out, they have at least one choice of deck to play with, if not more!
I am new, but I try to be prepared. I have my EDH deck and my Standard Deck. I am working on another Standard and want to create a Modern deck. I like the idea of tokens all in one box, so will probably do that. I have 2 dice bags. One has a bunch of spindown dice, counters and pips. The other has a massive oversized d20 I use for fun playing Casual Standard. I have two tubes with playmats in each, plus a ziplock bag with dry wipes to clean off the table crumbs from previous players before setting my mats down. I also have tissues and some hand sanitizer on boards. Everything is packed in my trusty Harry Potter knapsack I bought at B&N. I also have a journal in there that I rewrote notes when first learning, so a bit like a basic handbook. Some also carry a talisman or good luck charm with them, or Mascot card. I love this idea and need to think more on it!
That is my deal. I already feel like I need a bigger, stronger bag. What about you?
Keeping a notebook to make notes sounds like a terrific idea, especially for a newer player like yourself. That's really cool!
Aside from that, obviously you must bring a Standard deck to FNM (which is usually Standard), and other stuff like a playmat, dice, pen and paper, etc. is helpful and preferable, but not required. As for stuff like EDH or Modern or Legacy decks, players bring those if they intend to play with them between Standard matches, or if they anticipate dropping from the Standard event and playing the other formats with friends for fun.
And for decks, I just have a Modern deck in a DEX protection box. It's common to have a single-deck box for a 60-card deck, plus sideboard. I also recommend having a few d6, d10, and one or two d20 for Standard. That should cover everything for stuff like life totals, +1/+1 counters, and Planeswalker loyalty counters.
Sorry if you already knew some or all of that. But I like Magic accessories and items!\

I go to FNM with an event in mind so I travel light and just take what I need for said event, ie. for Duel Commander FNM I take:
>One Duel Commander deck in an Ultra-Pro Pro Dual deckbox that fits 120 double sleeved cards and stores my deck and 2 copies of each token the deck can produce plus a small notepad like the ones Channel Fireball give away on their events.
>A dice cup with 10 life counters and 10 d6.
>A playmat in it's tube.
>My trade binder.
>A pen.
For Modern/Legacy I take pretty much the same except my deck and notepad fit snugly in a Dragon Shiel Game Box.

I should really get a trade binder. Do you recommend a brand?

This was a perfect answer. Thank you! I should also mention that my husband just gifted me with the Planechaser Anthology 2016, so will need to make room for that. We add that occasionally as a layer to our EDH games, but only one person has the whole set and another has about 15 of them, so it will allow us to play it more frequently! I need a bigger bag!
Depends on what you want to do wit it. I normally just have a couple easy to trade money cards in case I decide I want some cards from the store at last minute. So I use a Ultra Pro 4 pocket Pro-Binder.
If you're more likely to take a lot of cards to trade or personal collections to modify your decks with, the Ultimate Guard Xenoskin Zipfolio is the best binder I've handled so far.
I travel pretty heavily honestly, because I play a lot more at FNM than just the rounds, we generally do a lot of playtesting and stuff before, during, and after. I bring my drawstring backpack with my 2 binders and my notebook, then I have one of these Milwaukee tool organizers (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-10-Compartment-Red-Deep-Pro-Small-Parts-Organizer-225046/205847797) that I keep my decks (2 EDH, 6 modern, 2 legacy, 1 pauper), Dice, life pad, and 2 playmats in.

Pauper: Affinity
EDH: Gaddock Teeg Kithkin Tribal, Meren
Legacy: 8 Rack, Omnitell (Both in progress)
What do you bring to FNM? Your deck, trade binder, dice/counters, and extra sleeves. Buy your refreshments and snacks at the LGS so you support them.
Unfortunately I am Diabetic so have to bring my own snack if I have one. And they are kind enough to fridge it for me. The owner understands, as he is Diabetic too! But I always buy dice and Booster packs! No weekend is fun without cracking a few of those open!
Only take the essentials and things you use with you. I know a guy that forgot his bag with binder at the station with his whole collection in it. Around 2000 euro in Modern cards and as you expect the bag was gone when he got back at the station.
I just take the deck I will play that FNM with me, some dice, notebook and pen, all the tokens I need and my playmat.
Light and simple.
