[I don't know if this is the place to ask this since I don't really use this site] I know this has probably been asked before, but I'd like to get into Modern. Of course there are videos and other articles but they are all 1+ years old. I want current information on Modern (the meta and such) and how I can get into the format easily. I'm a Standard and EDH noob but Modern seems appealing to me also. What decks are easy to navigate until I understand the meta and such? I've heard mono-red burn a good way to start but I'm just not really sure. Any information would be useful! Thank you!
Mono-Red is always a good place to start. A few more options include:
Mono White Soul Sisters
Mono Green Stompy
Bogles
If I were you, I would go onto the Modern Forums, MtgGoldfish and ModernNexus, and learn about the decks that see play and their general strategy. From there, you can learn about decks that interest you, and even those that do not. That way, you will be brushed up on what to expect in the meta. Modern is a vast landscape, which can seem daunting, but it is also one of its biggest assets. You can find a home here, with 30+ decks that can win GPs with enough practice. Once you learn the ropes, and some general staples and strategy, anyone can find a love for this amazing format.
Best of luck to you!

How I like to win games:
Modern:
Grixis Shadow
Burn
Titanshift
Copycat (Given up currently, not entirely sure what it needs)
I think the most important thing is actually find a deck style you like playing.
Your modern deck can start out terrible but you have as much time as you need (as long as it doesn't get banned) to finish it.
Some one top 16ed a modern open with a standard deck once seriously.
Plus sometimes your janky deck turns out to be the strongest thing when the meta shifts, see amulet combo, lantern control and deaths shadow.
My first modern deck was one of he harder more meta based deck there was (RIP birthing pod), my second was mono red goblin storm which if you like that kind of deck is a good place to start. Most of the decks in modern are fairly linear, the meta is less important than learning your deck inside out, so it better be one you like playing.
I also started by looking at the cards I owned from a few years of standard and commander (I got my oblivion stone for commander for example)
Most articles have Ultra Budget version included as well as non-Budget ones. You can find a playstyle you like and build according to what you can afford. Then over time you can up the power level and become more competitive. This would allow you to start playing immediately and learn your local meta. I think that's the best first step. Anyone can give you info about a "general meta" but your local shop(s) will play decks specific to them. If no one is playing control, no need to sideboard for that right away, etc. You might not win much at first, but you can hone the deck to work against your opponents and hopefully become more successful over time. Modern is a lot of fun, and is currently my favorite format. Good luck with whatever you decide!
I agree with Varyag and this is something that deserves mentioning, but to get into modern you need to find a group first and figure out what their play level is. You don't want to be the timmy McSpikey player to a bunch of budget players and you also don't want to be the proverbial wet sponge being tossed at an angry doberman. People in the modern forum can help you immensely with building your first deck, but you want to make sure the match ups are fair both ways.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I think you should also explore your local meta (where you intend to play). If you bring a budget deck and they're all packing blinged out Tier 1 decks you're probably not going to have much fun. If the meta is more reasonable then it might not be much of a downside.
I would like to spare you the disappointment of buying a budget deck and then finding out its simply cannot compete in your area.
Big time this. There are many budget options that can spike people if they are not ready for it, but best to have an idea of what to prepare for in terms of competitiveness before you invest (if you choose to do so).

Not all of them are one colour, for that matter. And some can be surprisingly effective.
