im new to magic and i just went to my first fnm last Friday but my deck does not have that many win conditions here is my deck (i also either want to add 2 aethersquell ancient or 2 Thalia, Heretic Cathar because i have those and they seem to work with my deck my deck focus is on just not taking damage but i dont know what to cut any ideas?(none of the creatures)
edit:
After looking the deck over, I can't really help you other than make it easier for other to help. I'm a bit out of touch with the current Standard. The deck looks not half bad actually. What are your main issues with it n your games? And do you have a sideboard? If not, then building one is certainly something you should do.
my main problem with my deck is i dont have a big enough win condition i have the three whales but if they get removed i basically cant win except for just milling them out also thanks for the help and advice about the card tags that will help me out in the future.
edit:i dont have a sideboard because im only 14 and on a budget so i dont have 1 yet
Well, the Whales have a built-in protective ability, the ability to bounce back into your hand, which is good, a finisher in Control should be problematic to deal with for the opponent. So once you have a Whale out, keep four energy counters over to use that ability. It's probably best to play a Whale only if you have those four counters already, so that you can activate that ability even if your opponent tries to remove the Whale before you get the energy from its trigger. You may also want to delay playing a Whale to when you have the mana to play it and protect it with a counterspell. You're playing control so waiting for the right moment to go for the win should be part of your game plan anyway. Use the Whales to accumulate more energy if you can do so with little risk.
You need more ways to answer planeswalkers, such as Gideon. I would add 4 Quarantine Field to remedy that.
Also, you're missing some more powerful top-end cards. I would try to pick up some Torrential Gearhulks if you're able to.
Lastly, you should work on improving your mana base; adding four Prairie Stream and four Port Town should improve your mana consistency greatly.
