So I am wanting to buy Planechase anthology and I am worried that i may be throwing my money away.
The pros of this are:
-I know i will have people who will play Planchase now and then. (I play EDH every thursday, we would throw PC in there now and then to spice it up)
-I will have physical copies of the planes (no more cue cards)
-I will be able to get a few cards from the 4 precons that woudl help my EDH box. (Such as commanders and some non-reprints)
Cons
-My Friends are not really huge on PC (LGS sure, friends, meh)
-Its expensive
-I am not sure if opening the precons are worth it, Would people buy seal products if it is just the decks and not the planes with it (I would opt to not open them if I could sell them, even if only 10 bucks each, that is 40 bucks i make back) (Besides i already own Thromok, I have no desired form the GW lion and while i do want i do not necessarily need Maelstrom wanderer or Vela or most of the other single sin the decks. (meaning it is a extra content that I am paying for but do not need)
Weighing these options, is it worth buying the PC Anthology?

Depends on how much you are paying for it. The $150 they are charging is patently ridiculous, especially since the high price of the planes simply comes from them being scarce. Recouping your money in the future would be extremely difficult. However, some people are seeing it for as low as $100 with shipping, and that may be a little better price wise.
Cards worth more than $5 in the set:
Ghostly Prison ($7)
Kor Spiritdancer ($10)
Sakashima's Student ($11)
Preyseizer Dragon ($5)
Awakening Zone ($5)
Baleful Strix ($5)
Maelstrom Wanderer ($12)
Shardless Agent ($9)
Silent-Blade Oni ($8)
Vela the Night-Clad ($5)
So it is up to you.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I mean it would be nice to have all the planes and stuff. Plus there's cool stuff in it but the price is so high. I myself wouldn't use it enough to justify the money but I'd say it depends on how often you see yourself playing planechase.
If you see yourself using it, I'd say its worth the money
I ended up getting it on eBay for $103 and I thought that was a great price. I already had 53 planes (most from 2012) and adding up the promos and 2009 planes I was missing was going to cost me around $110 on TCGPlayer (about $30 of that being Tazeem) and this way I got a couple cards I wanted extras of (mostly Sakashima's Student and Shardless Agent).
I plan on just giving the rest of the cards away (including the extra Planes) to younger players at my LGS since I don't really want them.
So, to echo some of the posters above (and The Professor) $150 is way too high to pay for this set. However, if you can find it for $110 or less and you plan on using the planes often enough, I think it would be a justified purchase.
Hmm, just adding up the price of the cards Teysa listed, i am around 70 buck. That alone is a hug dent in what the value is. I could purchase the Wanderer and Vela and sell all 4 decks as a set or maybe even my LGS would buy them from me. (Unopened) if not i could try ebay. Keep em sealed as there are really no card i oficially desire aside form wanderer and vela.)
I went halves on a Planechase Anthology with a friend. We play MTG every Thursday night with our brothers, Standard, Modern and Commander, all of which can be made more fun with PC cards. I bought it not with the value of the cards in mind, but with the value of hours of entertainment we'll get from it. The way I see it is that as long as it's providing fun for our little playgroup throughout the year it's entirely worth it.
I think the PC is worth it at 100 $ or bellow for casual plays only.
Pro: It has good gameplay and offer the planechase cards that can be used in other formats. A lot of value in that product.
Cons: You really need someone to play with, a group of 4 friends. Spending 100 $ to play a couple of times is not worth it. Neither buying it for normal cards, not the oversize.
In conclusion planechase is a product for players that are not into standard or modern. They just play casual stuff, commander or pauper with friends. For modern just buy the singles and for standard play and draft new sets.
I think the casual players are the ones they marketed this product towards. I think many people are having some kind of problem with it, I mean I'd probably get it if it was about $120-130 but not as high as it is in Canada

Yea i am gonan go to my LGS tomorrow night and see what the deal is with their price and if it is too high i'll get it online.

I think my LGS wants like 165 for it. at that price, I can't justify it right now. as much as I want the product

Yea same, if they are selling for anything more than 140 I am gonna say no. (i am willing to pay an extra 5-10 bucks to get a product right now, but I am not gonna pay an extra 20-30 bucks.)
I just hope the decks would be sellable. If i can't sell them, I will crack them open and see if they have any value. My buddy knows prices of cards so if they have value in modern he will know. (also if I crack them, will grab a card of each one I do not own or need in my EDH box and the rest will be sold as bulk. (If i can get even 20 bucks for the decks perfect, though i would aim more for 40-50 bucks)

I don't think that there will be enough value in the decks to make your money back on them but planechase is actually a pretty fun way to play so there's that vakue. Plus you get like 4 decks and all the planes
This is what I don't understand about this product. Planechase is a purely casual format targeted towards casual players. Why, then, is it priced at a point which is clearly too much for many, if not most, casual players?
Considering that Archenemy: Nicol Bolas is slated to release next year at an MSRP of $60 and contains four 60 card decks and 20 schemes, it doesn't at all seem unreasonable to expect that this product would be priced in a similar range. Heck, most people really only want the planar cards. I would have said that just the planar cards would be somewhat reasonable at $40-$70.

I feel it is a cash grab. But yes the Planes are what people want. I am a casual player and I know my budget is tight. Thing is there are asome card sin the 60 card decks that I do want to add to my box. But again i don;t want to open teh boxes if I could sell them all, even if at $10.00/each 40 bucks for cards that while no true value, some have value. I mean the cards alone would probably bring each one over 10 bucks If no one is interested, cool, I'll open wandered, and vela, add them to my decks, get the ninjas I am missing. But if I can sell them, even better, that is 40 bucks less that i spent (kinda)
still I will see what the store is selling it at, if I find it fair, fine, but Canadian prices are higher than most would like to believe. (I mean amazon is 157, ebay is 135. It is tough to reason buying it regardless of how much i want the planes. (of course if I were to buy the planes separately, I would end up spending that much anyway.)
Picked mine up for $108 shipped and I couldn't be happier. The quality is quite good and I love the packaging. Plan on keeping it together for when friends come over (kind of like a board game). Although I may tune the decks a bit. Speaking of which does anyone else know of a guide for upgrading the 2012 planeschase decks?
We played with our new box last night with Commander and OH MY GOD it was so much fun. We played with a shared plane pool using all 82 and it was mad. Highly recommend it.
