So I finally picked up a Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale. I want to play with it but am nervous carrying it around and it getting more played possibly even damaged. I am thinking about sending it in to PSA or Beckett so it's professionally mounted in a case and safe. First off, what kind of a grade do you guys think this could get? Secondly, is it worth it to pay for the grading? Thanks in advance.
From what I see of this card it will come back from grading with a grade that would have little significance for the value of the card. Potentially negative value even! If you want to keep it protected there are much safer, convenient and less expensive ways to do so I think.
The card's condition likely won't yield a high grade, at this point the card is likely more useful to you (or anyone else who may own it should it leave your possession) for its playability. Playability is diminished by being in a big ole dorky plastic case if it were graded.
My personal solution (I'm in the same boat on a lot of my legacy/vintage cards, they're beat up) is to keep the original sleeved up and in a toploader off to the side/in a box that I may pull out and lay on the table once I played the proxy of it.
Yeah, no way that card gets a good grade. Even cards that are new out of the pack, never before touched by human hands can get bad grades, and that card clearly has small nicks on the sides.
Nice advice. I single sleeved both of mine, but never used the deck in a tournament. I sold one around 2 months ago for $950. The condition was still around VF+ to NM-, which is amazing for these kinds of cards. I kept the VF to VF+ copy for myself.

With the current condition, I don't see a point in grading it. If you just want it safe, you can buy a screwdown case.
