I'm trying to understand why Zendikar fetch-lands are so expensive. I know it's been discussed before, but I'm specifically interested in why the "enemy" fetch lands are valued so much higher than the "allied" fetch lands released under Khans of Tarkir. I thought decks built around "allied" colors are supposed to have more synergy and therefore be stronger ... no?
For the Zendikar fetches it's a matter of supply and demand primarily.
The Khans/Onslaught fetches were printed twice, one of those in a set with a larger print run than either Zendikar or Onslaught (assumed but valid assumption).
Lots of supply means lower price.
On the other hand, Modern interest has risen (given the values of other Modern staples) meaning more demand in general and the Zendikar fetches have a much lower supply.
Enemy fetches were also printed six years ago as opposed to two for Khans. Four years from now, Khans fetches are going to cost a lot more than today if they're not reprinted again.
Allied colors having more synergy has been largely discarded. Allied colors used to be more heavily supported, but it's my understanding that current R&D thinking has abandoned that. That's why standard has a roughly equivalent number of ally and enemy duals.
