I really feel that Magic is such a great game for kids to learn anyway ... it really teaches them so many useful skills. And the best part is it's scalable – you can start off with easy decks when they're young, then have them move up to more complicated stuff when they get older.
I have seven children. I have taught the four oldest to play MtG. Two have left home and don't play anymore. The third and fourth LOVE it and play it all the time. #3 has a fully-foiled Daretti EDH deck (with Crucible, Karn, Ugin, etc.). Definitely no money for anything improper...
