So with Conspiracy 2 just around the corner and the full spoiler up, many players (myself among them) have been very happy with the quality of reprints and other playables going into the set. Show and Tell, Birds of Paradise, Phyrexian Arena, Serum Visions, Burgeoning and Inquisition for example are all amazing cards that are getting the reprint treatment (not to mention the not recruiter and other legacy hopefuls).
Reading through the forum there seems to be a great deal more excitement for this set than there has been for the most recent Masters sets and this has lead me to the following questions.
TLDR: Is the reason for conspiracy 2 satisfaction and hype compared to that of recent Masters sets: because people were not expecting these kinds/ quality of reprint from a draft orientated "fun" set? because the recent Masters sets have simply not been good enough in terms of draft/ reprint quality? Or is it that the Masters sets were over hyped and were saddled with unreasonable levels of expectation that they could never deliver on?
Please share other opinions you might have and thanks for reading.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
Part of it is because Conspiracy involves new cards and a good portion of those cards tend to be good for Commander and generate more excitement than reprints (compare Marchesa, Leovold and Selvala to Maelstrom Wanderer).
Although, if you asked me, the real reason is because we all know Conspiracy follows a print-to-demand system at regular MSRP, similar to Standard sets, so any quality reprint will drop in price at slightly less than if it were in a Standard print run (because as a supplementary product, it's "shelf life" is shorter than usual, Kaladesh is up next month already, but as a counter-balance, it doesn't enter Standard either). For all the complaining that Inquisition of Kozilek at rare, at MSRP and that supply, it's technically an uncommon in a set with MM1/EMA print runs.
It is literally the solution to everything the Masters sets faced - enough supply to reinforce MSRP so that people can truly enjoy the draft experience with quality reprints mixed into it, where junk rares don't seem as glaring and rarity-increased cards aren't completely detrimental (just compare IOK with Heritage Druid). I almost feel that the really-high-end Mythics of the Masters set (Goyf, Force and Crypt) are the sole driving reasons for all those "mistakes", since the quality of the Conspiracy Mythics don't seem too far off from them otherwise (Berserk/Show and Tell aren't "really-high-end" comparatively). New Mythics tend to be harder to judge, so they fill in the middle-gap quite nicely.
Honestly, Conspiracy should just be renamed Magic/Draft/Multiplayer Masters and replace the Masters series and be a yearly product. In fact, they should take over/accompany the Commander decks (basically, have the Commander decks be the "Intro Packs" of the product), they design less and make much more (and also solve the "New Commander Cards have no foils" issue I always had a personal gripe with). They've been running too many supplementary products recently and I think a collation like this would be nice for the next few years.
The reaction is due to everyone's previous under-reaction, I'd say because people weren't expecting much after EMA. Distributors have even been offering refunds on orders! Imagine that, I never thought that would happen lol
btw peeps, DO NOT pay pre-order prices for any of Conspiracy 2 product, just wait a little bit, this set is going to get opened to oblivion and back. Berserk will be a $20 something card soon enough.
This set is print-to-demand! For years right? Idk how long tbh... Conspiracy 1 boxes are floating around everywhere, I can get them for about $70 even today.
You would have seen similar/more enthusiasm if EMA wasn't a limited run with a higher MSRP and then hiked up even more by retailers. People are happy because they can get Con 2 without feeling ripped off.

All of the above. CNS2 has quality reprints, that we can actually expect to make a real impact on prices. It doesn't have an inflated MSRP that gets further inflated by the low supply. Wait long enough, and the EV of a pack will drop to around the price of a pack- and that means that the individual cards will tank to that point. This goes against normal advice, but do not buy singles of this set, at least not right away. Buy packs, draft with them, and don't expect that they'll hold any value at all. Once the prices drop, buy what singles you want cheap.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
Conspiracy isn't as exzpensive or limited as Modern Masters. It doesn't have the same quality in cards as the Masters set but it still have high profile cards comparable to them making Conspiracy far mroe rewarding. Is simply cheaper and not limited
I think people are really excite for Conspiracy 2 because it doesn't have a limited print run with expensive packs. It also has good quality reprints as well
I still think this set will flop and it will linger on shelves like CNS1 - possibly longer, AFAIK CNS1 had one print run and if this set is any more hyped, it could have multiple print runs before sales drop off a cliff. CNS1 was also very hyped before it came out - Stifle, Misdirection, Exploration, foil Brainstorm, Pernicious Deed, Will of the Council etc. Some really great reprints. After a few weeks, it was all worth nothing and no one was drafting the set. Locally, we did 2 CNS1 drafts and then no one wanted to play after that. People drafting often are doing so to build their standard collection, and once you take those people out, there weren't enough people to buy the set.
tldr tanking reprint values for an unlimited run set will doom this set.

None of those cards were on the level of Berserk or Show and Tell. It's more like the new set has reprints similar to the ones you mentioned plus a couple of chase Mythic reprints in addition to being a fun draft set with a few decent new cards to boot. I think it will do well.
1. Is basically GoT world and fantasy players usually like: LoTR, GoT and similar artwork
2. Some good value in reprints
3. The set actually helps with cards for modern, legacy and commander
4. I think people miss the MX series, this is the first year we do not have a core set
5. MSRP is 3.99
6. It looks really cool to draft it
7. Is one unique experience
8. You can even build casual decks that can be consistent from it because of landcycling
9. The latest sets where not exactly what people wanted but this one is
10. The set can be used for cubes as a standalone game
My own opinion is that Conspiracy 2 is showing that WoTC doesn't really make standard the way people want either, given how many choose to buy singles these days over cracking packs unless it's an FNM Draft. Conspiracy 2 is the first draft set that makes people want to draft outside of tournaments just because its built for draft, has good reprints even if some of the super classic ones are at mythic, and is cheap.

I think the lack of a limited printing is really important. The masters sets would have been just fine had they freaking done a normal print run. It was the fact the packs sold so high above msrp. you could not casual draft, prices never lowered. lame.
It feels way more rewarding opening Conspiracy than Eternal Masters ever did. It's cheaper, it's not a limited print run, and even the cheaper rares are fun or interesting. They aren't Call the Skybreaker.
