I was hoping this thread was going to be funny but it turned out to be kind of sad.
Here's a e-tissue.
I meant 'sad' more in the embarrassing, pitiable way than the Native American littering way. Thanks though. I'll keep it in my e-pocket until the next time my e-allergies act up.
If the guy's pronunciations bother you so much and you want to 'help him out', as you say, why not just contact him? If you are legitimately concerned, what's the point of this thread?

I wanted to see if there was anyone else that felt the same way before I did so. It seems we have some that do and some that don't. I will be contacting him in the near future and offering any assistance I can. Whether he accepts I have no idea. Guess we will have to wait and see. My comments were made on the knee-jerk defensive comments that were coming up over VALID criticism. People don't need to be offended so easily. I am taking your criticism of me and will keep it in mind, thanks.

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
It's a small price to pay for the excellent content he puts out on a regular basis.
There is no arguing the content is top notch and appreciated. His demeanor and love of the game and enthusiasm for it is infectious. Nothing wrong with wanting him to step up the speaking though. I've been busy of late but I will try to contact him and offer assistance if I can help him kick it up a notch with more accurate pronunciations. If anyone else has any everyday terms he tends to mispronounce, please share them here or give me a link to listen and I'll see if I can generate a list to send along to him as a suggestion and he can accept or decline. Thanks to those that have responded so far. Looks like we have some on both sides.

Don't know the fellow and how he speaks but you should watch the EU coverage sometimes or play in an European GP, you'll get hammered by the finest vintage of Globish with various flavors who'll probably make that guy feel like some erudite orator.

I hear you. I can excuse non-native speakers at times though. Having a wide audience like Saffron Olive has means you have influence over multitudes that listen. Might as well set a correct example while you're at it. Again, just wanting the community to sound "professional" if you take my meaning. Even though its just a game. And a damned fun one at that.

He said he does it on purpose. Even last night, he said we will be pronouncing Kaladash wrong to rile up the viewers (Kal-E-dash like he pronounces Kal-E-tas for Kalitas). He also knows he gets complaints about it, but it is what he likes to do, he said, so I don't think you will be swaying him at all.

Maybe for some fantasy words yes. But for everyday English language words his mispronunciations are not intentional, he just doesn't know how to say them. And he very well may be covering for it by saying he does it on purpose. I'll know my answer if I get a response back.

Yes, he also does regular words wrong on purpose. I will go find an instance where even says "I know it is X, but I like saying Y to mess with you people" in non-live videos. It was in a Modern Against the Odds a couple months ago with blue.

Saffron's pronunciations of Titan and Mountain with the paused "T" are perfectly cromulent, particularly in the Southern US with words like tighten, threaten, or kitten. Perhaps many of the words you believe he's "mispronouncing" aren't really mispronunciations but instead are just part of his regional dialect.

It would make sense if he even had one iota of "Southern Drawl". He doesn't. I suppose it could be a quirky Canadian dialect if I had to guess. I think its just lazy speech if you ask me.

I studied phonetics under a professor who came up with an analysis for that sound. He called it the "nasal plosive."
Or maybe he didn't come up with it and I was dreaming in class, dunno. But the point being, Mount Inn is perfectly cromulent legit pronunciation.

It may be a possible pronunciation, but it is annoying and outside of the usual accepted pronunciation. He won't end up on CNN or NBC with improper pronunciations like those. The mute button is becoming my friend when I watch his vids now. If I spoke like that at my job, I'd be out of it.

I wouldn't say upset. Just very disappointed. Communicating to people is part of my job and I want to do it correctly. I call it professionalism. Seth either chooses to or by mistake mispronounces words in his communication via media. His audience isn't live to give him immediate feedback on it. (except when he live streams) I'm wanting him to conform to a higher standard and don't like to see the English language degraded into something that may be a poor example for those choosing to learn the language correctly. He is hardly random and is one of the very few that regularly produces video on formats I follow. I'd like to see him become more professional, it would do nothing to temper his obvious verve and enthusiasm for what he does. He is good at it, but could be better.

HALLELUJAH!!! Thank you Seth. Admitting there is a problem was the first step. We would gladly help you out if needed. Keep the enthusiasm and love of the game and add in the pronunciations and I'm looking forward to great things. Let us know if we can assist. Good luck and thank you for addressing your pronunciations.
