I had the same idea, so I believe that this is not a coincidence if many think the same. For example Mark Rosewater convinced the management of hasbro to release Innistrad thanks to the twilight saga, and they were cheap books. They probably have borrowed the idea of an "court intrigue set", of course it is not the same, but the similarities between cercei and marchesa, the battle for the throne, the idea that there is a good ruler awaiting to fin her way to the goverment (selvala/khaleesi),etc point towards the same creative direction. Adrianne look soo similar to Brienne !
The only way this would seem similar to Game of Thrones was if we saw the card equivalent of softcore porn.
LOL. Council's dilemma - Starting with you, each player votes for ass or mouth...
As for the topic, I also saw a lot of similarities between Conspiracy 2 and GoT. I mean,
Quote from from"Daily MTG: Marchesa"s proclamation »
—As proclaimed by Her Majesty Queen Marchesa, the Black Rose, first of her name, head of the council, guarantor of lawful governance, sole sovereign of the High City, true heir to the throne of Paliano and all the rights and privileges thereof

Everything we've seen in Take the Crown is reminiscent of fiction far older than GoT, and in many cases reminiscent of real life. It's possible some of the designers had GoT in mind when doing their work, simply because both are derived from similar sources and GoT is popular so some of the designers had probably watched it, but that is not the driving force behind the set.
Except that you wrote it the other way around, and generally it was a silly thread.
That said - yes, there are similarities between the current Conspiracy story and GoT. But these are partly coincidental, partly a result od the fact that both world draw inspiration from similar sources, take place in a very similarly feeling setting, and basically both of them use similar (and quite traditional (unoriginal, if you want)) plot patterns. Basically, if you want to find the allusions (as you demonstrated), it is very easy to link them.
On the other hand, the art things or Hold the Perimeter were created before their GoT counterpart characters or scenes, so it is kind of coincidental.

Was GoT that was the origin of the medieval "war for the throne" trope? No.
Let's face it, GoT story is not the most original of all time, other than the 18+ content (violence and sex) and constantly killing important characters, it has a pretty bland storyline that follows several founded cliches of the gerne.
You have Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy and Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn Trilogy as the forerunners to what George made. Otherwise, he took ideas from those and injected them with a touch of War of the Roses. You'll find smidgeons of Lovecraft, a bit of Robert Howard and a touch of Michael Moorcock's Melniboneans in the Valyrians and Targaryens.
No doubt some of those cards are references to the show. I think you're reaching with Duskmantle Seer - he was printed long before the Hardhome episode.
I don't think the GoT game is really a threat to MtG, but that's not to say WOTC isn't trying to grow the player pool be appealing to that game's players.

I love GOT, but other than precise details, it is built upon established Medieval/Fantasy storylines and plot points. Heck it has more than one similarity to the Sword In The Stone series.

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Oh, that another misguided theory of yours...
Are you aware that the only Eldrazi Fish (save changelings) in the game is on the BACK of a DFC, and you cannot even note it with Paliano Vanguard???

I assume this was a joke?
Yeah for for spoilers right? Which are not in thread?
They are hidden so well they don't need spoiler tags. That would only draw attention to them.
If my post has no tags, then i posted from my phone.
Hidden how? By being just posted and listed in the topic post?
