Just saying here, Conspiracy 2 has way to many similarities with Game of Thrones to pass up on. Im not saying that WotC is copying Game of Thrones or anything like that, I just think there could have been some inspiration there. Spoilers ahead, continue at your own risk.
First, the title "Take the Crown" is literally the main storyline in Game of Thrones.
Queen Marchesa is clearly representing Queen Sersei.
Hold The Perimeter is depicting the "Hold the Door" scene. Even the name is one word away from the same.
Lieutenants of the Gaurd is made to replicate the Kingsgaurd.
Natural Unity shows two girls that closely represent the Sand Snakes.
Capital Punishment shows the scene where Ned Stark loses his head.
The loosely translated Guardian of the Throne shows and describes the Mountain after Sersie has him basically turned into a zombie.
Duskmantle Seer is a perfect reprint for this set because he fits in perfectly with the GoT theme. As you can see in the below image, he looks nearly identical to the Night King as they are both seen in the exact same pose.
Adriana, Captain of the Guard may be the closest representation of all of these cards. She mirrors Brienne of Tarth in almost every way possible. From her picture down to the flavor text depicting her loyalty and defiance to the corrupt queen. Even saying her "sword is pledged" just as Brienne does so many times.

At the time that I am writing this thread, these were the only cards that I have found clear and obvious similarities between the set and Game of Thrones. I would love to hear if anyone else has found other connections between the two and cant wait to do alters on some of these cards.
Agreed: Coincidence founded in both using similar themes. That said, if you want to do alters, then go for it! Just because Wizards didn't infringe on the intellectual property of G.R.R Martin doesn't mean we can't!

Was GoT that was the origin of the medieval "war for the throne" trope? No.
Let's face it, GoT story is not the most original of all time, other than the 18+ content (violence and sex) and constantly killing important characters, it has a pretty bland storyline that follows several founded cliches of the gerne.
There are too many parrallels to got in the few cards that have been released to deny that they didn't at least have the show in their mind when creating the set

But those parallels aren't made with GoT, but with the whole trope itself.
For Eexample, "Capital Punishment shows the scene where Ned Stark loses his head" this is not a parallel with GoT, any medieval story that resolves around treason has someone losing their head in public execution.
I could point several movies, series, books, animations with a similar scene, so why it was based specifically on GoT? This is a trope used by several media.

magic borrows from other ideas, so does everything honestly. if they can borrow an idea from another thing, and give it the magic twist while making it interesting and appealing to magic players... who gives a *****? evaluate it the product for what it is, not what another IP did with a similar idea. i mean jesus. if we're going to get all pissy over ***** like this then magic borrowed from the standard set of playing cards and we should be up in arms over that.

It's possible that the set took inspiration from Game of Thrones, either consciously or subconsciously. It's very much a part of the zeitgeist and I'm sure many members of R&D watch. But these just seem to be generic tropes for the most part.
I was thinking the same thing. There's NO question this release is trying to capitalize on the current popularity of Game of Thrones, and there do seem to be some top-down designs that resonate with that show.
The only way this would seem similar to Game of Thrones was if we saw the card equivalent of softcore porn.

To be honest I've only ever seen 5 minutes of Game of Thrones and it was a softcore porn scene. Game of Thrones just doesn't interest me so I don't know much about it after that except that all but 5 characters keep dying and they have dragons and zombies.
Hold the door happened long after set design was complete and product was into manufacturing for what it's worth.

I mean, it's very likely that some things here are GoT-inspired because it's very very popular and resonant at the moment. It's not like creative team, who are probably GoT fans, actively avoided some of the obvious influences and tried to be 120% original
