Hi mates, with the past of the years ive been acumulating multiples copies of a lot of cards, specially lands, ive like 8x of each shockland and fetchland, also some others cards like lightning bolt, path to exile, remand and so between 8x and 16x each, 6x thoughtseize, kologans command and so on, sometimes i dont know how many i copies ive
Ive almost the entiere modern pool so have build a lot of decks in the time so if a need a playset of bolts i get it again not swaped between decks ...
Am i the only one how do this? or its normal when building decks? For example i have 4x playset of bolts in 4 decks plus 1x playset in the binder for another future deck

I play edh and I dislike the idea of switching cards between decks so I often have mutliples of a card that I don't play alot. IE I have two copies of Crytic Command not in decks. I could probably trade one but meh.
I'm not sure if its just because i have a low budget, but i cannot see why someone would like to have more than x4 of certain card
In the bad 'ol days of Magic this was a very common occurance in order to properly play test decks that each might require 4x of the same card. There wasn't really any good software tools to analyze decks like we have now.
Now, it's really about convenience. It's a little bit of a hassle referencing a card list, finding cards and rebuilding a deck. Especially if they're decks you play often.
I've paired my Modern staples down to 4x of each. The excess copies are used to get cards I don't already have. I keep these cards in perfect-fit sleeves and move them between decks as needed. The perfect-fits always stay on, thus preventing scratches and damage.
If you are taking cards out of a deck and don't want to forget what you borrowed from it, try sticking in a proxy card. I have a sharpie and I'll scribbed "GW Fetch" on a basic land when I steal the Windswept Heath out of a commander deck to put in a Modern deck.
@SavannahLion i get your point, and yes, back in the mid 90's automated options were not common nor convenient. but i still think that if the goal is to test, you can use proxys, hell, even a piece of paper with the name of the card on it is viable, maybe also back in the days cards were not as expensive as today, so it was not that of a problem.
At least for me, (not in the US) it will be a imposible to afford x8 copies of each fetch, shockland, or modern staple, and as a matter of fact i would felt guilty to have those cards in hold with minimal use, when i could trade them with someone else who could used them.
I like to buy full playsets whenever possible, even if I'm only going to use one card. Sometime in the future I know I'll use the other three, so it's never a matter of waste or money loss.
I am particularly fond of buying multiple playsets of Common & Uncommon cards, more so now that I play a lot of Pauper.

just my two cents.
Sure... my mom used to own a photocopier and I used to run off Proxies all the time. Managed to get the oversized Black Lotus and I remember carefully calculating what combination of settings would get me a BL at the correct size.
I see you point as well. I don't really necessarily agree but it's one I can accept.
If you keep lots of decks built, multiple copies are fine and make life easier. In a pinch, you can always sell/trade a playset and not feel bad because you no longer own the cards.
Cheers!

When Ghost Quarter was reprinted in innistrad, they were quite cheap.. I juts had the impulse to buy all the copies in the binder at the shop. About 11 or 12 of them. It paid off, because I don't have to move cards when playing another Modern deck. Hmm, the other card that I deliberately bought more than 4 copies would be Delver of Secrets, it's so that I could use have the other 4 in different color sleeves with the back sides up.
The only cards I have more than 4 of are a few where I have a playset for legacy/modern and a foil copy for EDH. Everything is in the same color sleeves, so it's not difficult to switch between decks. If there's overlap, I'll jot down shared cards on an index card and stick it in the box with the decks. Having multiple playsets just seems wasteful to me. I would rather ditch extra copies and either have the money or funnel them into more expensive staples that would be difficult to justify otherwise.

I have multiple playsets of cheaper cards like Serum Visions, Simian Spirit Guide, shocks, and Khans fetches for my Modern decks, since it is a hassle switching cards between decks. But I only have single playsets of more expensive cards.

I use all the same sleeves for my decks so that i can switch between decks and not need to pay as much $ as you would.
