I know that MTGSalvation uses MagicCards.info for their links in the wiki. Does anyone know why they have been updated with Eternal Masters or Eldrich Moon yet? Their advanced search options and filters are the best around. If you get one letter or idea wrong in gatherer, it has no idea what you are looking for. If you misspell a card name (and magic cards have some obscure names) or put something rather generic that you remember about the card, it is all, "I got you fam. Did you mean this?" and it has just what you were thinking of.
Is there some news I am unaware of?

"Whatever style you wish to play, be it fast and frenzied or slow and tactical, the surest way to defeat your opponent consistently is by dominating him or her in the war of card advantage." - Brian Wiseman, April 1996
Also I've noticed when trying to search under "standard" it still includes Fate Reforged and the like. I have to individually click each set that is in standard. Not a big deal I know, but it is something.
I've noticed this too. I'm hoping they'll update soon and its not a sign of some larger problem. That site is the best! Gatherer used to have the advantage of comments, but WotC managed to screw that up. (Reading the comments for older cards still has merit.)
Ha yeah I agree. Would be neat if they were able implement something similar on magic cards info. I'd always love reading the Storm Crow comments. I also remember there was a guy who capitalized every first letter of his posts. It was great lol
Well, it's public knowledge that MagicCards.info was run (owned) by the previous owner of MTG Salvation before it was bought by the Curse Network. I won't post their user name here but you can probably figure it out, but they haven't posted in 4 years. If you go over there, their contact form no longer works either.
I assumed Info would be discontinued, but I can't speak for it.
Is there any news about the future of magiccards.info yet?
It would be a huge loss if the site doesn't get updated anymore. I have found it to be miles better than Gatherer. And I'm certainly not alone, I assume that quite a few pros used it as well.
Magiccards.info is better than gatherer in every single way. Runs faster, more intelligent search parameters, corrects mispellings, simpler interface, less bulk. I will be very very very sad if it is discontinued.
Yeah - I noticed it after SOI became Standard legal. They have the full set in the database, but they hadn't updated it for the rotation. Eternal Masters and EMN didn't get added and that's when I knew for sure it was dead.
Like someone else posted - it's the only site I use. Hands - down the best. So sad. Gonna try the others fractius just posted, but I'm cautiously pessimistic.

That's the conclusion I reached to be the most probable scenario. Anything else and you'd think he would have put a notice up or passed it on to someone.

I'm surprised that there wasn't/isn't a whole team working on that site at any given moment. Volunteers, paid-staff, etc.. MC.I is the best card searcher around as far as I (and many others, obviously) am concerned. This is sad news.
What are all you using to print up paper proxies for the newer stuff then? I could get 6 cards per sheet of paper printed there but can't find anywhere else that does this as easily and as simply as magiccards.info

I printed a whole bunch onto full page labels and stuck them to actual cards to use. I found that sizing it to 90% means they still look good and you don't need to mess with margins.

I don't think that's actually a solution in this case.

deckstats.net does a sick job at that.
Thanks. I'll check it out.

Well, I wouldn't be as pessimistic as you guys.
Magiccards.info is also very slow to be updated during the summer break. It was the case in the past for M15 and so on. I do believe (hope?) that the guy who updates the website is on vacation or busy with other stuff, and magiccards.info will probably be updated in Sept. when the first set of new block is released. By the way, promotionals and tokens will be rather painful to update.
Magiccards.info is definitely the best site for searching cards. Powerful and fast!! I hope it won't die.
Not to mention that Gatherer Extractor strongly depends on magiccards.info...
Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.
We have 2-3 users that are dramatically making this thread incomprehensible and non-productive for anyone else to possibly join in the discussion. This needs to change.
Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it. Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too. Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade" Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
[M]aking counterfeit cards is the absolute height of dishonesty. Ask yourself this question: Since most people...are totally cool with the use of proxies...what purpose do [high] quality counterfeit cards serve?

But really I'd prefer magiccards.info to get up to speed again.

Or better yet, can WotC just HIRE HIM to run Gatherer and make it like Magiccards.info?
