Why do people want a tier 1 deck you ask? I don't know about you, but if I drop 600 dollars on a mana base and another few hundred on the cards, I want a deck that wins. Based on the amount of money that magic costs, in any format, I don't really think that's an absurd thing to ask. Also, the power gap between tier 1 and tier 2 in modern is much higher than it is in legacy. Even janky legacy decks in legacy have absurdly powerful unfair options like foodchain, enchantress, aluren, brainstorm, that can steal wins. In modern, you need to work really really hard for something unfair, and if its good enough, it's just going to get banned.
I wonder if wizards does this on purpose. A lot of the unfair cheese decks tend to be a lot cheaper, and bans tend to hurt budget players a lot more as a result. I mean, in terms of powerlevel, you could absolutely make a case for LOTV being banned in modern.

As someone that doesn't play competitively, in any format, and only has one card that is on the Reserved List, worth money at least, I would be happy if they removed it. Currently the List is causing more trouble than doing anything all that healthy for the game by causing multiple formats to suffer and lose more and more players as time goes on. I would much rather more people, and that isn't including me, being able to enjoy other parts of the game rather than someone needing to drop the price of decent used car on cardboard to experience that portion of the game.
Even if the RL was removed I still probably wouldn't be able to afford any of the REALLY GOOD cards, but I feel the game would be better with it gone.
I play modern and a bit of commander
It bothers me that I cant afford duals and some other commander cards
No one plays legacy here because its too expensive
I would like to play modern/legacy and a bit of commander
I dont have any RL cards but I dont mind my Lilies and fetches tank 50% in exchange of more players playing
I don't really see how the removal of the Reserved List would impact any of my collector impulses. I like picking up cool, old cards because, well, I like them. I didn't pick up a Pixie Queen because I thought it a sound investment (speculator cabal, this is your signal to buy it out now. GOGOGOGOGO!), but because I enjoy the Quinton Hoover (RIP) art and the fact that the card is hilariously far afield of the contemporary color pie. I don't trade valuable Standard/Modern/EDH staples for piles of old-frame basics because it's a fiscally sound move, but because I like to stack piles of them like my own little cardboard hoard.
Now my player side would certainly be impacted...the Legacy cards I bought to play with might actually be shuffled up more often! I mean, jeez, the outer sleeves on my Legacy decks haven't needed replacement in over a year due to how little play the decks see. It would certainly be swell of Wizards to keep their implied promise of format support to folks like myself who paid into them.
