My brother just popped his box, foil Mana Crypt, but there wasn't anything else truly notable about the box. Necropotence and Sphinx of the Steel Wind were his other mythics. He did get a foil Hymn to Tourach after, but man, it was sparse.
I legitimately felt bad because my box was insane and aside from the crypt, his box was ugly... very ugly.
Bought a box. The rares were pretty terrible, but I pulled a Mana Crypt, Jace, Force of Will and Karakas, and a foil of both Pyroblast and Hydroblast.
A friend pulled a Mana Crypt in our draft, traded it to the store for seven EM packs, and pulled a foil Vampiric Tutor, a Wasteland and a Maze of Ith from those six packs.
A ten year old kid in my draft opened Divining Top, Divining Top, foil Enlightened Tutor in this three packs.
Drafted today. My three packs were Void, Gamble, aaaaaand A Vampiric Tutor.... With a foil Gamble :/ It was kind of a feel bad to have to pass a Vampiric Tutor
Opened five packs in total, three from a draft. Got a foil Vampiric Tutor from my first draft pack which made my day. Also got a foil Invogorate, Maze of Ith, foil Void and a Hymn to Tourach.
I don't play legacy at all, but I play a lot of EDH and just finished a cube, so I'm happy I got a few cool tools for it (no rancor though).
Apparently some cases are pure gold while others are golden showers...
I opened 12 boxes (eight from my lgs and four ordered online), and another person from my lgs opened nine personally as well as more for the store (most from our store and some from another). We discovered there seems to be a terrible distribution issue. All of the boxes allocated to our store were packed with mostly garbage as far as mythics go. Of the eight boxes I opened from our store, I got four worldgorgers and no jaces or crypts. The other guy had a similar experience opening mostly low value mythics. But, from the four boxes I received in the mail, I had amazing pulls - a foil force, and a pack with both a foil sneak attack and a natural order... and otherwise excellent pulls pack after pack far in excess of the purchase price. Also, our store traded for some boxes from another store, and all those were similar to my online order - foil dack, two jaces in a 10 person draft, etc.. And, of the 288 packs I opened, there are some rares of which I got one copy (vindicate), while others I got 11 (trenches... YIPPY). I open at least a case of every set, and every time the distribution is relatively even (2 of each mythic +/- 1, 4 of each rare +/- 1, etc.) at least for the past handful of years, but this set is wildly imbalanced.
Trust me when I say, this sort of thing can and does happen. For example, when I owned/ran the magic singles sales for a local shop, for the last several years I would buy around 150 booster boxes of each new magic set to open for singles. In most cases the distribution tended to be fairly even case to case, or group of cases to group of cases as far as that went, since I sorted as I went, I would rarely notice anything particularly odd going through them, through admittedly sometimes I would notice some cards coming up shorter than others for a while, but then it would balance out later, but never anything that particularly worried me on the overall .... That is ... until I ran into RTR the last set I dealt with before I left the shop. That set I ran into something that honestly as I opened kept getting worse and worse and of all the cards to end up short on, I ended up massively short based upon the expected pull rate of Jace Architect of Thought (at the time the most valuable card in the set by far). I got through 12 cases and had opened only 1/2 of the amount of Jaces I should have at that point in my opening process, which would have been terrible bad news for me, especially with the top card in the set. But then, once I started on the last 12 cases, all of those cases were the opposite, they had more than the normal amount of Jaces, and I ended at exactly the perfect amount by the end that I should have. I got all the cases from the same distributor and all at the same time (from the 1st print run of the set). I was relieved at the end, but at the same time it was certainly eye opening.
The issue with a set like this one, is that you have a large set (15 mythics, 53 rares I'm assuming that was the setup for this one anyway). But with a box size that includes only 24 packs, you have the issue of that it will take you 5 boxes on average to get 1 of each mythic, and 2.5 boxes on average to get 1 of each rare. And with an imperfect distribution as is often the case, a small sample size will more often that not lead to disparities in certain cards. That said however, getting that many of a single rare is certainly odd, though I know that duplicate rare setups in boxes has been common in the past, so that could have been partially what the last poster ran into. Small sample sizes as mentioned can cause funny distributions like what you ran into. Unfortunately the downside of random being random in an unhappy way sometimes. At least you got some good boxes to go with the less good ones to help balance it out a little anyway.
I've opened half of my box so far, yielding Karakas, Entomb, Isochron Scepter, Duplicant and so other nice stuff, including foil Memory Lapse and foil Dualcaster Mage.
My crowning achievement, however, was winning the local EMA release draft. In my prize packs were Mana Crypt, foil Mana Crypt and Baleful Strix

I doubt there are going to be many people whose boxes can compare with your ridiculous box, but foil Hymn to Tourach is worth around $30 right now. And Foil Mana Crypt has to be over $200.

Drafted. Garbage rares from trash packs in a dump of a box. And draft is not fun when everybody is value drafing. You know you flushed your money down the toilet when the best card you saw all day was in your prize packs and it was a foil Karmic Guide. The one saving grace was the shop only charged $28 to draft.
So with half going from store credit, we bought a box upon release.
We got foil and regular shard less agent
Jace
Wasteland
Gamble
Mystical tutor
Necropotence
Sinkhole
Mana crypt
Other various rares (only a few being meh, stupid red/blue enchantment and mono green legendary)
Some good foil uncommons and commons. Was surprised actually a foil night whisper got us 7 store credit alone.
Sold the agents and the foil commons, got 70 in store credit, spent 10 dollars to draft for me and my gf.
Her crazy self, first pack, force of will. Second, she almost traded, sneak attack.
I got gamble on first and then enlightend tutor foil. My rare was the black gorgan creature. If it was a better rare I might have just scooped with my prizes. Glad I didn't though cause I got a winter orb passed to me. Apparently a foil uncommon was passed around a lot and was 12 bucks lol... Poor kid next to me got the mythic dragon, although he built a deck that got infinite combos from it.
Was really happy about the fow because I remember being a little greedy sad when the box didn't have one lol...
All in all, best set I've ever had (of the few I've done) that profited so much.
Edit- from the above conversation, my personal experience... Our friend who opened a box next to us when we did... Got most of the same cards plus a foil wasteland.
Apparently the boxes, from what he said, go: Insane box, average box, bad box, theme box (elves/goblins/ect). Donno how true but yeah... What I heard
I got four boosters, after canceling a box to save up for a car, and opened up Jace, the Mind Sculptor, so that breaks me even at least and I can sell it to go to my car. After that it was Green Sun's Zenith, Siege Gang Commander, and Toxic Deluge, so not terrible in the rare department, although nothing interesting in the foil department. I did like the 1/1 Elemtnal token as I need plenty of those.
I opened 44 packs between a draft, a box and loose boosters.
Force
2 Sneak Attack
Natural Order
Vampiric Tutor
Dack Fayden
2 Baleful Strix (1 foil [$60...whaaaaa?])
Entomb
Vindicate
Top
Worldgorger
2 Enlightened Tutor
2 Mystic Tutor
2 Green sun's zenith (1 foil)
2 Silvos (1 foil)
Dualcaster foil
Hymn foil
Mongoose foil
A set of chain lightning
2 cabal therapy
Heritage druid
2 toxic deluge
Wrath
And then some other lesser stuff. I came out ahead. The force was in the very last pack I opened.
Between a sealed event and a draft, opened 12 packs (spent $100).
Heritage Druid
Mana Crypt
Toxic Deluge
Duplicant
Nevinyrral's Disk
Foil Honden of Night's Reach
Regal Force
Mother of Runes
Inkwell Leviathan
And I can't remember the other 3 - obviously not that great.
The limited format is amazing. First time I've played anything like elfball and now I have to build something in a constructed format for elves. I hate myself a little.
Set seems reasonable to crack, having done a few drafts and opened a box.
Draft was a lot of fun. I started in Red and then got shoved hard into BG elves as people kept passing me Eyeblight's Endings and Elvish Vanguard - ended up with 3 of each plus four BG duals and lots of elf support. Okay then. My favorite play of the game was dispatching a mostly mono-red sneak attack player by Ending his Bladewing when it swooped in off of Sneak Attack and was pumped for lethal. "Kill the ugly thing, kill you on the crack back." He was so excited about finally making the combo work, too... oh well.
Box was not amazing, but reasonable. My box yielded a Jace, a foil Gamble, foil Brainstorm, Maze of Ith, Sneak Attack, and a bunch of random 5 dollar goodies like Mother of Runes, Isochron Scepter, etc. Overall, it was a break even at today's prices, but I don't think I would have spent the money on those cards if they were sold in a group.
So, yeah, draft is good, but I'm pretty meh on opening packs.
Opened trash in the draft so decided it was gonna be the 1 time I didn't value draft, since I didn't see any anyway.
Got passed Entomb, Shardless, Visara, foil Nights Whisper, 2 hymns and I don't know what else. I opened Void, Rorix and something else I can't remember.
The guy across from me popped a Wasteland and that was the best thing I heard of.
I prebought 2 boxes and I'm not sure what to do w/them. Boxes seem really hit or miss...
Theres like a 30% chance to pull something thats worth more than 10$ at rare/mythic.
The real deal is the foil slot, which is even more of gamble to get anything of these rares, as common/uncommons are also included as foil slot.
Its incredible unlikely to get your value in cards, but you can kinda scim a box if you see people opening stuff and its all just crap, and theres like 5 boosters left in that box, well, i would buy them (chances arent bad that these actually contain something, as all the other boosters didnt, as "double" rare/mythics per box are allmost never the case).
Went through half of my box, the rest will probably be drafted with 3 friends next week-end. Looks really good so far. Got Mana Crypt, Karakas, Wasteland, Sylvan Library as well as foil Winter Orb (surprisingly valuable!) and Hymn to Tourach.
I also participated in a release draft and picked up a foil Toxic Deluge and a grand total of 7 reanimation spells. Made those white mages happy when I Victimized my Pacifism'd creatures for fun and profit.
Force of Will
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Wasteland
Sylvan Library
Maze of Ith
Entomb
Enlightened Tutor
Vindicate
Necropotence
Toxic Deluge
Green Sun's Zenith

Brago, King Eternal (foil)
And I forgot to check for the money uncommons like Chain Lightning or Therapy.
im most curious is if anyone had mispacks, you know, 15 mana crypts. personally, last week i secretly hoped they would slip in something real sst in there.
anyway, got the box this pm, jittery all week awaiting it.

and likely a bunch of uncs, i dont know. i kept the packs as is for now so if i want to go draft/sealed down the road, its all booster fresh
Has anyone gotten multiple packs with the same cards in them? I must've opened 6 packs in which the first three cards were Desperate Ravings -> Humble -> Duress.
My box was horrendous. The total value of the worthwhile stuff only came to around $125 going by the admittedly volatile tcgplayer prices. Mythics were Sneak Attack, Necropotence, and Balance. Best pull was foil Mystical Tutor. Yeah, it was that bad. Kinda bummed me out, to be honest. You would think this would push me away from ever dipping my toes into EMA again, but unfortunately its has just the opposite effect. I feel like I need to open more to right the wrongs of my box, I guess. I'm so obviously falling into the sealed product pitfall. Oh well.
Obviously didn't make my money back. Even worse, I couldn't play any of my rares because of the quality of commons/uncommons in those colors. Still fun though

I opened two boxes, each of which ended up having card value of about $360-$375 (going by current Pucatrade values, and not counting any cards under $2).
But I had a very weird bit of luck... the two boxes I purchased came from two separate online stores, about 1000 miles from each other, but the mythic distribution in each both was exactly the same: Karakas, Mana Crypt, Dack Fayden.
