Since the Contest for Eternal Masters has closed, and spoilers are coming in, I thought that there might be an appropriate to talk about the picks we made for the Eternal Masters Contest.
I picked sneak attack, rishadan port. show and tell and JTMS as 4 of my picks to be reprinted. Can't remember the fifth but I've gotten 2 of my picks right

I didn't either. I had to go back through my post history to find mine.

All my excludes were common sense choices, so those are locks. My only real regret is picking Siege-Gang over Diminishing Returns, and perhaps betting too heavily on obscure filler cards (Commons/Uncommons). If I win though, I'll win hard (my tie breakers are ridiculous).
I got 3 out of 5 so far. I think simian spirit guide was a bad choice though.
Reprint:
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Ensnaring Bridge
Simian Spirit Guide
Chain Lightning
Entomb
No reprint:
Scalding Tarn
Spirit of the Labyrinth
Ponder
Swords to Plowshares
Red Elemental Blast

That's what I did as well with both my lists with the exception of Ponder. Those points were too enticing and I didn't feel ambitious enough to tackle Brainstorm.

See, cards like Karakas were a crap shoot in both directions. You can't honestly say that listing that card as an exclude was a safe bet. (I know hindsight is 20/20, but c'mon.) My excludes were literally all Modern Masters exclusives.

I certainly wasn't expecting the crazy 3 figure Mythic lottery that WotC set up here, but I pretty much kept any Eternal staple on the table. I wouldn't have said Karakas or most of the other cards spoiled so far were obvious slamdunks, but certainly not obvious excludes either.
In general, I was just floored by how many people had includes and excludes that could be easily challenged before a single card was spoiled.

If anyone predicted Mana Crypt, even if every other card on their list was wrong, I feel that person deserves at least a constellation consolation prize.

I'd love a Southern Cross. Or maybe a nice Canis Major.
Sadly, the S only stands for "suggested." I watched the box price on SSG jump from $250 to $350 overnight, and am surprised that they didn't just start it there in the first place.
I think with firebolt and chain lightning in the set, I'll be screwed by my lightning bolt = IN prediction. I was also stupid by not remembering LB being in MM2.
Again, who tf is dumb enough to bet on Brainstorm as an exclude? Like, that makes less sense than the Karakas thing.
I know the temptation.
Although I realize now that betting on Serum Vision is not the best idea beyond trying to dip into Modern for obscurity points. Wizards probably won't want too many one mana cantrips in the set, so that I'm guessing right now I'm 0-5 on reprints, but if I get Ponder right, there's a good chance I'll at least get all my no prints right.

In my mind, the excludes are just way easier and more obvious than the includes. I mean, mad props to anyone with the balls to bet on, say, Fetches as excludes (it seems obvious in retrospect, but the original rumor/leak pegged them as in the set). Beyond those, it's literally just a matter of picking Modern Staples and/or cards that WotC is obviously reserving for future sets.
The includes are where I'm really nervous and kinda kicking myself. I really should have bet on Animate Dead and Diminishing Returns. (I didn't have the balls.)

Well, the excludes were easy for me to but for an additional reason. I picked cards where I thought wizards would not want to include them because they wouldn't likely play in a draft well (with the exception of Ponder). Right now I think my riskiest non-pick may be Trinisphere because Winter Orb means Wizards might slide other STAX cards in. Ponder may still knock me out for once and for all, but I'm a little more confident wizards doesn't want them in the same set.
Congratulations. You are now at least winning in this thread with 5/5 reprints. And I will say that your not reprints look solid enough that you just might get the whole thing barring some last minute reveal or tie breakers.

Only at 2/10 right now, but now that Brainstorm is in, I feel a little better about my Ponder/Preordain/Gitaxian Probe picks for "Out" -- although, with the high number of "banned in Modern" cards in the set, you never know. I'm also not super confident about the Serum Visions "In" and Young Pyromancer "Out" picks, but oh well. Go big or go home!
I've only hit on one of my picks so far. I was pretty much playing to the "crappy filler card" lottery from the getgo. Ostensibly, I'm still very much alive, but having 2 cards I nearly picked being spoiled during previews has kinda shaken my confidence in my own predictive skills. Still, like I said earlier, my tiebreakers are INSANE (and I'd bet millions that several people will get 10 out of 10 correct).

Here's what I picked:
Printed:
CounterbalanceDark Depths
Inquisition of Kozilek
Serum Visions
Umezawa's Jitte
Not Printed:
Lotus Petal
Manabond
Ponder
Progenitus
Trinisphere
I don't think I'm going to do so good.
