Everyone has those times, either when playing or building a deck... you dismiss a card because you fail at reading it. Sometimes you do so with fairly monumental and groan-worthy results, sometimes you just feel like slapping yourself.
This is a topic for celebrating(?) such times.
Imma go first... I was going through SOI cards for EDH potential for the umpteenth time... came across Obsessive Skinner again, a card I'd initially dismissed as not useful... then I read it again and realized it's *each opponent's upkeep*, and not mine. Suddenly, the card seemed good (multiplayer format and all...) and I felt like an idiot.
Facepalm ensued and I put it on the list for Dromoka's counterpile.

Way back during tempest, I made a humility, phrexian maruader and shifting wall deck. The idea was to play a few walls, then drop humility, leaving me with extremely large creatures while my opponent was stuck with 1/1s.
The judge told me that shifting wall can't attack even with a humility in play. There goes my deck.
I didn't figure out Angel of Serenity till yesterday. For the longest time I thought it was 'exile three from battlefield, they return to battlefield if ~ dies'. Then I realized they only return to hand. Then I realized it could target creatures in graveyards. Then I realized I could target creatures in my own graveyard, to return them to hand if it died. Now I need to find a copy for my Commander deck.
I've done the opposite before, drafting a card that I thought looked really good, and then rereading it while constructing the deck and being like "oh. This card is actually worded in a way that makes it terrible."
A few years back for some reason I also got it stuck in my head that Pyroclasm was an instant, have no idea why as I've played it since Ice Age.

Origins prerelease, thought I had a really good thing going because I had Gaea's Revenge and Rogue's Passage. Oh wait...
I thought defense grid just made all my opponent's spells cost 3 more at all times. I'm the person who controls the artifact, so each other player must mean my opponents, right?

(Note that the ruling has changed since then.)
