Maelstrom Wanderer only works on cast. As for the list, take a look at old modern or standard birthing pod lists, since pod's goal was to get value from moving up the casting cost chain with enter the battlefield and dies abilities.
Just for reference, here's a list of all cards with ETB effects: blue, red, white, black, green and colourless. Also 2-colour and 3-colour cards (there are none with ETB effects and 4/5 colours).

Not in this context. Finks is good mostly because of persist. Cathedral Sanctifier's ETB is better, but it's not a better card than finks.
The 2013 commander series had pretty good ETB cards. Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge notably. True-Name Nemesis kinda counts, I suppose.
