This is a tricky one. Only dropped because of rotation or because of reprints? I don't have historical price data that goes back far enough, so this is just from memory.
Baneslayer indeed would be one of the bigger ones, going from around 50 or 60 dollar/euro to about 10 now, its price is still decent compared to some tanks that went to almost nothing.
Mostly Planeswalkers that are new and hyped tank quite hard.
Another one I can think of was the Abyssal Persecutor, which was also around 20 or 30 maybe even more at some point then dropping to where it is now, in the dollar bin.
Also in Timespiral, the first card that was the highest price if not mistaken was Korlash, Heir to Blackblade, not sure what is price top was anymore, but now its about maybe 3/4 dollar if not mistaken.
Boros Reckoner also had a price spike before blowing up and being where it is now, not played and worth barely anything.
A lot of card have been hyped when the set comes out then dropping slowly mostly, though some drop very fast when rotating out.
Also some seem to fluctuate a lot, think of modern legal cards that get banned and then unbanned later as example.
Some cards prices have gone up so much, its not even funny anymore, for instance Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, which imo is overpriced, but might just be me that thinks that.
Though I also feel Tarmogoyf is overpriced, yes its a big creature for a low cost, but it apart from being big has nothing special to it imo.
Blegh, my auto correct is garbage... it keeps changing things to something that makes no sense in the sentence.
Being reprinted and outclassed by Titans, Wurmcoil, and Dismember will do that to Baneslayer.
I think for the sake of this thread you should ignore cards that got hammered due to rotation. It kinda slants the picture. Skaab Ruinator is a great example of a card that plummeted right after release, whereas Thragtusk was respectable throughout it's stint in Standard.

Time Reversal was definitely one that started high in pre-orders (around $30+), and by the time it settled out while still standard legal, it had dropped down to about $1. There is literally a laundry list of cards that have pre-sold for crazy amounts based upon hype and otherwise only to then tank once the set was released and people realized the cards just weren't good enough, or initial demand from other formats or casual players inevitably was hugely exceeded by the supply of the cards in question.
These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

I disagree, I think rotation should be allowed it is the primary legitimate reason for cards to lose value.
What shouldn't count is prerelease prices. They are essentially set by two or three companies and don't reflect the actual value of the card. And don't kid yourself those companies know what they are doing.
Could never understand why people paid high prices for pre order, any mythic that gets any buzz is instantly $30+, any rare 10-15 minimum. I understand some cards actually increase in value but if you regularly purchase before release do you actually save money in the long run when there is like 10 stinkers for every card that holds or increases in value?
Wasn't there a story with Media Insert Broodmate Dragon and how it went from super collectible to widely available because people thought it was a limited release?
It was during my Magic hiatus so don't have the story first hand.
Hype is a marketing technique typically used in the gaming and movie industries, among others. It is used to get customers to buy products immediately upon release, regardless of quality. More hype you put into a product, more profit is expected at release.
Hype in Magic is further exacerbated by "writers" and "pro's" who say such and such or this-and-that about Mythics and rares. People see an article and go bonkers. The sad thing is, its the greedy stores who get all the profits for purposely hyping bad cards intentionally.
Off the top of my head - Sea Drake was about $75 when Fairy Stompy hit the scene and it's like $4 now. That's the biggest drop I can think of, and it wasn't even reprinted.

Hyping bad cards is how they make their money back on an otherwise mediocre set, whether the business is greedy or not. Customers can chose whether to buy a card at $40 on release, assuming risk that it will drop as more cards are drafted/opened up, or wait until the card drops in price. For me, I take any hype as a grain of salt because I know how the system works. But I understand how someone who gets trapped in it may feel "ripped off", but ultimately it is that customer's risk analysis of the card.

Cards hyped so hard that there was no way it could ever maintain its price and eventually collapsed under its weight.
Standard all stars but eternal chumps.
Cards that speculators are sitting on mountains of, many of the cards warped from their tears.
