I am absolutely intrigued by elemental cards. I believe their origins and artwork are amazing. So, me being generally new to the Magic community, what set(s) are the best to find elemental cards?
The only real elementals are fire, water, earth, and air. All others were designed by idiots who did not understand the concept of an "element" and had not seen enough movies starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich.

You really should read The Order of the Stick webcomic (OOTS), Redcloak's Titanium elementals, Silicium elementals, and the like, will really turn that argument against you. I think, he literally used the highlighted phrase himself at one point.
But back on topic, As mentioed already Lorwyn and Shadowmoor had lots of Elementals, and the old Zendikar block had its fair share as well. They can be found throughout all of the Magic sets. As was also already suggested, use the Gatherer or another card database and look for cards with the subtype Elemental.
