Hello,
I'm doing some research for one of my FLGS. I'm good friends with the owner, he's been open for around 6 years, and hasn't sold magic singles yet. Mostly because there are 2 other stores in-town that do sell singles. Most of his business is through board games, miniatures, and sealed magic product. He's looking to branch out; carry singles and hire a full-time employee to deal with them. I know there is some options for software for maintaining card inventories, I've looked at one or two, but was looking to get some feed back.
Which programs would most people recommend? (links would be appreciated)
Desired features:
+ Card Inventory tracking
+ Automatic price updates from a reputable online card seller (tcg, starcity, mtg salvation, mtg price, etc.)
+ Some form if 'add to cart' or POS capabilities

I am on my phone but I will not go into crazy details. I am a director of operations for a major restaurant chain. I worked my way up from manager to General manager to DO. Software you can adjust for MtG. You want multiple forms. First you want what is called "On Hands" inventory Build to Tool to keep track of your hot items daily and so you know what you need to stock up on. Yes it may sound like its for prep cooks however useful for any hot inventory or morning inventory. hot inventory is a branch off the same program you use at end of night. This protects against theft for employees and Miss placed product or loss of product. Either wise known as Cost of Sales and "waste" as well. Or AvT. Actual sales of what inventory is missing vs what should only be missing or "theoretical". Lastly is full inventory done bi weekly. This is an 8-10 hour project that will give you a look at your entire business. Sales a Product Mix AvT etc. this would be your 50 page inventory sheet of everything you carry. Could be all of magic or perhaps you only carry singles for standard and modern.
I will not give a direct link but there are hundreds of programs that will do all of the above as well as some creation on your own part you can do to make them your own. You don't have to be a master at scripting on a computer just follow the manual or how to guides. Or buy an existing program. $250-$1500. I'd also recommend buying or creating your own PoS system to go with this. If purchasing look into Pro Touch Micros Aloha etc.
They are a website development company that specialize in cards/board games etc. They have a POS system, not sure what they will charge if you only want the POS vs having it in conjunction with a website. These are the guys who Channel Fireball and Cape Fear Games and many other cards stores use.
They are currently making a website for me and have been great so far.
