I recently bought a badlands and bayou on ebay they seem to be real but they are also very mint like pack fresh and while I know this is not impossible it also feels very unlikely and I was thinking they have been in a starter deck so I was curious if they are a possible rare combination for starter decks. If not how likely are dual lands to be near mint to the point of brand new? Is it more common than I give it credit to? I can post pics when I get home as well if it helps
No scanner I slightly bend tested one and I the light on my phone and compared it to other duals I have the seem real they feel right as well I have a fake force of will which I've done bend and light tests to and I can tell a difference. I can try and get some sort of scan or pictures when I get home
Trafalgar, first of all, did you check the feedback of the person on ebay you bought the dual from. This would be a good clue. If the person has 100% feedback rating, it is unlikely that it is fake, as people with these ratings strive to keep their 100% ratings intact. Secondly, you can probably take it to a lgs and see if they can give you an opinion on whether it is real. If you determine that the item is fake, before screaming to paypal, I would contact the seller and try and resolve the issue. It is always possible, especially from someone with 100% feedback rating, that they bought it themselves thinking it was real and thus sold it to you believing it was real. They may be willing to refund your money if you have proof it is fake. Hopefully, however, it is the authentic thing :).
It really depends on how well the previous owner takes care of their cards. I've got a Karakas that I personally opened from a Legends booster over 10 years ago, and it still looks as mint as the day I opened it, thanks to it being double sleeved for the entirety of its life. I've also got a volcanic island that I purchased off ebay a couple years ago and for some reason that one was exceptionally mint, but I doubt it was pack fresh, just well taken care of or maybe just left in a card box in closet for 15 years before being rediscovered.

They could NOT have been in the same starter deck unless there was an abnormality in the sorting/packing process. The possible combinations are Lord of Atlantis/Badlands and Badlands/Ebony Horse. The only way an unaltered starter (of any set containing duals; the rare sheet for Revised is very similar to the Unlimited one, with cards in both sets appearing in the same places) could contain two duals is Bayou/Tropical Island.
This doesn't mean they're fake, of course, it just means they weren't played without sleeves.
