I haven't played it, but I just discovered that it's a thing. It sounds really fun! And that you can throw it in EDH or casual...I really wanna get into it but why did WotC stop printing them? Would be cool to not have to pay so much for just the planes cards @_@ Does anybody still play it? Was it not popular or something?
We play planechase sometimes for EDH. Cab make the games interesting BUT very very very long.
We use a phone app which contains every single card. We skip through some of the unfun ones.
I've only managed to get my hands on two of them, but i think it is a lot of fun. In time i intend to try to get them all to mix the planar cards together for a planechase commander Grand melee.

The answer is purple because ice cream has no bones.
They have a "casual product" slot every June for such things:
2009 - Planechase
2010 - Archenemy
2011 - Commander decks (so popular it gained their own yearly release slot, replacing the Premium Deck Series in November).
2012 - Planechase 2
2013 - Modern Masters
2014 - Conspiracy
2015 - Modern Masters 2
So it's not that they 'stopped' printing it. The first set of decks was already an one-time thing; the second set was the result of the first one's popularity. They could easily do a Planechase 3 in 2016 or 2017, but I suspect more people want Conspiracy 2 instead.
O that's really interesting I didn't know about that June slot. Yea I can see conspiracy 2 before Planechase 3 which I'm ok with as I have some catching up on Planes to do!
ajprokos - when you do EHD do you just have one pile that everyone choses from when 'walking? Or do you each have 10 picked out planes? I kind of like just having all 74 on a separate Planes Zone and then when the player rolls they jump to that plane. But maybe I have misunderstood the rules...
You can play it however you or your group like. We often played with one big stack and just walked to the next in the stack.
Our favorite way to play was: The Eternities Map. Gives you the element of randomness, plus an element of strategy.
I have all the actual Plane/Phenomena cards, so that really made for an unpredictable experience, which was nice. 4 player EDH with Planechase was our most common way to play. I don't get to play much any more, since I moved. My new playgroup doesn't really do the EDH thing.

The android app works just fine for me. i use it all the time. planechase does make games way crazy. boardstates can get way outta hand with a simple planeswalk.
Most of the planes are still cheap from what I've seen. A few of the promo planes and ones with good text are a little pricey. I bought all four decks on both product releases. I've just started to play casually again with a new group on a more frequent basis (once a week instead of once a month or so). People in our group are wanting me to bring Planechase when I get back from vacation with my parents. So probably right after Christmas I'll get to experience it again for the first time in awhile. It's a lot of fun to just have a large deck of planes (actual format is people bring their own deck of ten planes) and then have people hop them during a game. Very chaotic - sort of like EDH. Can definitely see how it would make that format even more random and fun.
The Plane idea is cool, the thing with the dice is just plain crap and annoying.
So the time i used to play with the plane cards in some custom formats, we simply removed the dice and made it that the plane will just change after 2 turns and that works and removes the random aspect of the planes (as its not really fun if they switch too often and its also not fun if you cant remove a particular annoying plane for several turns).

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
