So, i have in my possession of what appears to be a creased card and i have tried putting alot of pressure on it (textbooks) and it wasnt enough to help. So i am curious if people have methods on fixing such an issue. I have looked on the internet for other methods and ive read up of things such as Ironing it and im not prepared to do something as sketchy as that without any real information on the process or how to do it.
Further information, i do not know how the card got its' crease, or bend, and i didnt notice it until recently. Ive had cards bent before and textbooks have worked, but this seems to be different. The bend is also noticeable through a sleeve, so my goal is to make it tournament playable. Anyway, the card in question is a tropical island, so replacing it is not an option with my budget and so i ask, if anyone knows a good method to flattening such a card or any insight on this issue.
In the picture, it is hard to see the bend, but i have arranged the light so it is right next to the ridge of the bend, it is the best angle i could get showing it but it is barely visible.
no discoloration, it just looks normal but with an arching bend/crease, it seems wider but also isolated to just the particular ridge, it is very odd.
Here is a few more pics with the perfect fit off, the bend is actually barely noticeable, ive put it in a text book and that under a table and it helped a little bit. But i can still shuffle my deck and pick it out double sleeved, which i am fearful an opponent might abuse and call me out for marked cards, thus why im looking for information. I think maybe with extreme pressure i can fix it, but being in a textbook and under a heavy table has not flattened it perfectly. Id love to try the ironing method, but i cant replicate the type of bend in this card.
You would have more luck trying to uncook an omelette. I guess you could try the ironing trick but just practice on a bunch of crappy cards first--I'd probably go with ABU-era ones too, just to be safe.
I'd just double sleeve my deck in some thick sleeves, like KMC Perfect Fits + KMC Hyper Mats. I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't be able to discern the crease once it is sleeved. That is assuming that you want to keep and play your Tropical Island.
Try placing two layers of wax paper over the card and iron the card through the wax paper. It should take most of the damaging heat, but also help to un-crease/un-bend the card.
I would still try it on a card you do not care about first; but, the wax paper should fix the problem of potential damage to the card.
Good luck!
