I get tilting, but my biggest concern is when an opponent just acts so far tilt that it becomes really uncomfortable. You know, like, I'm fine with some exasperation if you get completely landflooded, but I dislike feeling blamed for either playing better or drawing better than my opponent.
If it was that much of a problem, did you talk to the owner/managers about that? If it got to a hostile point then I'm sure they would want to know about it so they don't lose future business and maybe talk to the guy.
I made the judge and the owner aware about it. The judge himself admitted that this guy is a donkey (you know which word I'm talking about). I don't know what action they have taken, if any, but whatever it is, it doesn't seem to change anything. I went to that store to play Magic, not to get belittled or bullied. There is another store a bit further away, but I figure it's worth checking out.
A man-child in my playgroup takes long turns that do nothing important, and are not cool, funny or crazy in multiplayer games. If you ask him politely to hurry up, he freaks out at you. I enjoy it immensely that he never wins. Ever. But playing with him is not fun.
People who are poor winners/losers. Mana Screw sucks. It's happened to all of us. It's part of the game. Don't get super mad when it happens. At least not to the point where it is uncomfortable.
Bad hygiene. I had an opponent once who smelled awful, I swear he'd defecated his pants before the match, on top of that he kept farting the entire match, it was awful. I was too polite to say anything to the judge, but I really think someone like that needs to be asked to leave. The smell was gag-inducing (and I have a strong stomach).
I've seen him subsequent times since then, each time he has this miasma of gross stench hovering about him. I know other players have complained about this, but really what can we do? The owner doesn't seem to want to do anything as he's a paying customer, but people absolutely dread the possibility of having to play against him. I'll actually just leave if I see he's there, rather than have to play against him.
I know, I know, the cliche that gamers can be a dirty bunch sometimes....but this fellow takes that above and beyond.
Yeah, that is the exact kind thing I'd give someone a strongly-worded caution for at FNM, or a USC Minor warning (with game losses if they keep it up) at competitive REL. Obviously, we can't prohibit people from saying anything that might be construed as negative, but common sense has to come into play at some point, and there has to be a line where one has to say, as a judge, that such behaviour is unacceptable and won't be tolerated.
I think tone's what's really important here, a smarmy "Good game" is surely deserving of a slap on the wrist, but someone simply not knowing what to say, and not wanting to leave silently, I do not believe to be deserving of such.
My big peev is when players ridicule deck/card choices during a game. I find it lame to do it normally because I'm cool with people playing what they want to play, but doing it during a game is just plan bad. I don't mind if it's constructive stuff after a game though.
Yeah, "don't insult your opponent's deck/cards to their face" is one of those things I just treat as a golden rule. Even when they clearly have no business being at an event (like with someone who played a 100-card pile of random janky commons at a competitive Legacy event a few weeks ago), you don't go there. That's just basic sportsmanship. Make fun of them with your friends on your own time away from the person, whatever, that's your decision. But don't insult them or their cards/deck to their face. Hell, if I caught someone going "lol your deck sucks" at FNM, I'd sit them down and have a talk with them about how that creates a hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere and drives away casual players. The thing is, if you're playing a casual brew and consistently going 2-3 or worse, you know your deck "sucks" by competitive standards, but you don't care because you simply enjoy playing the game. There's nothing to gain by ridiculing someone over that. At a competitive REL event I'd just give them an Unsporting Conduct Minor warning and move on.
This is why I really love my LGS. I started playing right at rotation, and so the standard cards I had gotten were illegal, but in legacy such wasn't the case (Had no idea about Modern) and so I bought some repacks (A booster box full of bulk cards) and built this terrible mono White janky deck, and took it to a legacy event. I think I went 1-3, and after such received a bunch of inexpensive tips to create an actual mono white deck. The game I won, was due to having Rain of blades against a storm deck whose wincon was Empty the Warrens
They helped me actually evolve as a player, rather than just freaking out about my being a new player.
A man-child in my playgroup takes long turns that do nothing important, and are not cool, funny or crazy in multiplayer games. If you ask him politely to hurry up, he freaks out at you. I enjoy it immensely that he never wins. Ever. But playing with him is not fun.
STATISTICS.
All of these "Let's eliminate bad cards" crusades are simply ignorant. And when they start to devolve into "WotC is conspiring to give us crappy cards," they just become embarrassing. MATH is conspiring to give you crappy cards.
Players who 'slam' down there lands over I board wipe their field, or I remove a creature/counter there move (i.e. they used a selesnya charm to pump a creature, I use Nylea ability so we still trade). People who complain how the power level has gone down sense Scars-Innistrad (or any other time) while were playing a game, then go on to praise modern/legacy/EDH, then tell me I am a noob after tell them I don't care.
I don't like opponents who act disrespectful/super serious at regular REL events. Types of behavior I don't like:
- talking smack about card choices/plays
- rules lawyering
- pre-emptive winner's "GG" or asking for a concession while the game is being played, but before the game is actually over
- moaning about opponent topdecks
This is the reason why I don't go to FNM at a certain store anymore.

Focused on limited for now. Occasionally play some standard/modern as well.
since i only play mtgo now (so, set aside physical problems, like bad smell and such):
-the other day i was playing U Tron and my opp Esper control...when i mindslaver lock him he said something like "what a boring and annoying deck, have fun with yourself" and the concede/left.
i really dont mind when most of the people say this (after a mindslaver lock), but if you play control and get mad when someone is controlling you...what an ********
I hate hyper competitive players at regualar FNM's. They come with several hundred dollar decks against my $30 deck, then proceed to act super serious and act like they're playing a tournament. They would right down the cards in my hand and deck and spend 10 minutes a turn carefully assessing what the ideal play would be, scold me on minor infractions, and act like they're putting a ton of thought an effort into the game as they steamroll me.
On that note, once, having nothing else to do that turn in an online EDH game, I disenchant one of my opponent's artifact lands (it wasn't even an artifact-themed deck, they just threw them in there for who knows what reason).
I dislike very few players as I'll allow anything at my table or take anything with a sarcastic smile during an event, but the thing I won't deal with is when someone goes on a tirade about how other people are playing the game.
I've experienced that very little in actual events aside from the odd small-town Legacy tournament or two where people without real decks complain when those with real decks pop in every now and again, but it is a constant factor at my weekly casual gatherings when certain players show up. You all probably know the guy- the one who arbitrarily blows up one guy's enchantment/artifact early game, kills another guy's mana dork when he's mana screwed and then goes to destroy something of another player's and then gets pissed off and complains that his Commander got tucked so he can't do any shenanigans, sometimes quitting outright because, "That's BS- all I did was destroy your Master of Etherium. And your land. And your Bloom Tender." [talking to 3 different people]
I don't mind the guys who throw their weight around in multiplayer, but those who do so and then proceed to verbally abuse the other players annoy me and most others in my playgroup. We don't mind if it's a must answer target like Test of Endurance or a combo piece, or something- but when you're just using spot removal on each opponent simply because it's in hand is just awful. Another example would be a player had Hull Breach in hand and, while one player controlled a Vizkopa Guildmage and oftentimes wins through the Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood loop (on top of having Diabolic Revelationed and cast the Guildmage in the same turn), the one player cast Hull Breach on two other players in the game (targeting one player's Sol Ring, which he left open with a land to answer the combo, and the other player's Mirari's Wake, which he had two lands open to pay 4 mana on Restoration Angel to blink the Acidic Slime he controlled). Even after persisting that the controller of the Guildmage was going to enter an infinite life loss loop and win the game, all he cared about was casting Hull Breach right then because Hull Breach let him cast a creature the same turn, while Beast Within on the Guildmage or enchantment would mean he'd have to wait a turn to cast his Thragtusk or whatever. So then the Guildmage's controller untapped for his turn, cast Exquisite Blood, activated the Guildmage and then tapped his Pristine Talisman to win. The other players didn't complain- but the guy who cast Hull Breach then proceeded to complain about how busted combo is and how BS that win condition was. That was pretty fitting, to say the least.
It's like the the old joke about how "God bless your soul" is code for "[Expletive] you" in the South. Just because you're saying "Good game" doesn't mean you can't be perfectly obvious that you mean something else.
but seriously, i'm from atlanta. if anyone from the south ever says "bless your heart" to you, they have essentially said they would not be sad if you were murdered violently, and that you are so adverse to them, that were you a bug stuck to the bottom of their shoe, they would rather throw the shoe away than wear them knowing that you had come in contact with it. but we're super polite
I get tilting, but my biggest concern is when an opponent just acts so far tilt that it becomes really uncomfortable. You know, like, I'm fine with some exasperation if you get completely landflooded, but I dislike feeling blamed for either playing better or drawing better than my opponent.
it always makes me feel awkward when i just wreck someone. especially in something like draft where i've both beaten them, as well as ruined their chances of winning significant prize packs when they have also likely not drafted anything near the value of what they paid to enter the draft.
it used to bother me, but now just humors me, when people would insult my deck right after i just beat them with it. i pretty much always force izzet control in standard, because that's how i have fun. i understand it can suck to play against control, but at least i'm not playing four mana wrath followed by another four mana wrath. but somehow they would rather lose to getting thoughtseize followed by pack rat or divine verdict followed by sphinx's rev followed by elspeth for the 40th time than losing to me slowly eking out card advantage with keranos and prognostic sphinx after fighting tooth and nail with burn spells and counters to gain control of the board. i don't understand how it feels better to get wrecked by one card instead of ten, but whatever. now it's just funny to watch people insult a deck they just lost to.
The often vague "spirit of EDH" is one of the reasons I refuse to play that format.
Pretty much this. Just because my fun is different doesn't mean it's worthless. I hate the stupid politics of EDH.
It depends on what the rules are. If you want to play a competitive 1000 dollar EDH deck, and your opponents are playing whatever came with the pre-constructed deck... I think there is legit beef there. One of the most important things in multiplayer commander (really this should go for any game where money isn't on the line) is that all the players involved have fun. I've actually dumbed down my deck when I figured out that the group of people I was playing with didn't have all the stuff in their deck to make it much more consistent and powerful.
But if they are saying you can't play spells that interact with opponents stuff, then that's probably going to far.

I think everyone has covered most of it, but one of my complaints is not only about the opponent, but spectators: E-Cigarettes. Seriously, just because they're supposively safe and legal to smoke indoors does not mean you smoke it next to me the 50% of the time you're here.
Most Burn deck players or RDW players I know are just really mean/awkward/********s.
At 1 FNM he was on Modern Mono Red Burn and I was on a High Tide brew. Keep in mind, Burn is my WORST matchup as I have nothing in my main deck to answer it and very little in the sideboard. Anyways, game 1 he gets a turn 2 Eidellon and asks me for a concession. 30 seconds into the game, "Eidellon, wanna quit?" he asks. It made me so ******* angry. I mean, I know I cant win that game but its really douche-y to ask that and in that way. Game 2 I got the combo off before he could land his Eidellon and kept hitting lands. After turn 3 (he was flooded) every land he drew he just kinda plopped onto the table and said "Go I guess" as if he expected me to feel bad for him. The deck I was playing has a complicated "go off" turn and I spend usually between 10-15 minutes going off, similar to Eggs. And I was going pretty fast because I wanted it to end. But after the first 4 minutes I could hear him sighing out loud to express his boredom. After 8 minutes he had his arms folded and was sitting back and staring at me with a hatred. 11 minutes in he was tapping VERY loudly on the table and it caused other players to look over and ask what was going on. He replies "Just watching this guy play Solitaire" with a very *****ty attitude about it. Game 3 I got blown out but the entire time he had this smirk and at the end he just said "Didn't go off that time" and giggled to himself.
Later that evening I played against another Burn deck (I swear, I hate this deck and its popularity among newer players). Game 1 went like earlier, turn 2 Eidellon and he kinda looked at me like he expected me to concede and after I made it clear I wasn't he looked back at his hand and said "pass." I did lose that one but I mean, its more fun to play a game where you get to go past turn 2 and don't have to deal with being asked for a concession from a guy who was acting this snobby. Game 2 I went off and he, like the first guy, made my go off turn very unenjoyable. Within the first 5 minutes he was like "Can we hurry this up? I don't wanna have to get a judge involved". And that just sent me off the edge. I purposely went slower for the rest of that turn, overall taking around 16 minutes to finish the combo. Game 3 I got turn 2 Eidellon + double Goblin Guide'd off a Spirit Guide so I lost that one.
This wasn't the first or last time those players acted this way either. In other events I saw player 2 giving another combo player a hard time when he was going off.
Then I went to a modern event, this guy (known for playing Burn exclusively in every format) shows up with his "modern burn deck" but was just a standard burn deck with 3 Lightning Bolts and some Warleader's Helixs. Was a very poorly put together deck. Anyways, game 1 he gets the bye. Game 2 he beats some Kiki-Pod list. Game 3 he beats a Jund list (very close match however, I got to see a Bob kill the guy). Game 4 he beats a UWR deck. After the event ended he starts talking smack to one of the other players who was there for the standard event. "Oh yeah I just took my standard deck and threw some Bolts in and just destroyed a $3000 Jund deck omg! He was so bad!" and I like the Jund player, he is a great guy with a good deck and is a very knowledgeable player so I know this isn't true but it was just so irritating to listen to him practically yell so the entire store could hear him. Before we left he says to someone else "Well I think im done with Modern, first time playing it and I got 1st place. I think I proved my point."
It seems like most Burn players just have this feeling of superiority over other players and especially anyone with an expensive deck or a blue deck. Ive never met a burn player who was genuinely nice to everyone else and didn't talk/act in a way that was mean or made others uncomfortable.

I've seen these Ecig smokers as well. I don't know what makes them think it is cool. I guess it is a slightly better way to give yourself lung cancer and all kinds of other problems.
A lot of the other things that people have mentioned are actually "fun" for me. I would love for someone to say that my deck is annoying or whatever. What deck that isn't annoying still does well?
The only thing that really gets to me is when someone plays too slowly and deliberately, thus making us go to time with a tie. I'm talking about situations where I can't really control by either calling a Judge, speeding up my own play, or scooping a game in order to still get back into the match. When you get a draw in the early rounds of almost any tournament, it not only puts you in a horrible situation in the tournament but puts you in the "tie bracket" with the slowest players in the room. This actually hasn't happened to me in a long time, but there was a tournament that I just can't forget where I was literally 2 turns away from 6-1 and instead finished 4-1-2 (loss was in the final round to the mirror and was a play mistake due to tilt from the previous 2 rounds).
I believe that even after so many years of playing competitive magic, slow playing still gets me on serious tilt. Nothing else really fazes me because I've seen it all. Actually, cheaters bother me too. Even though I can catch them and call a Judge to give them a warning, I know for sure that they will cheat against an opponent who is not paying as good attention as myself (and I feel sorry for that opponent because I was at that stage before).
EDIT> I just thought about something that is hypocritical of me and slightly off-topic. Even though I hate slow play so much, I do feel that Tomoharu Saito deserves to be elected into the Magic Hall of Fame. Kinda bad, huh?

Taking long time to consider on simple decisions or simple board states, espescially with players that slow substantially down in any game they are losing.
Another trait I dislike are players who automatically start looking for cheating the moment it looks like they're losing. People who play loose and fast as long as they are winning, and then suddenly "how many cards are in your hand? graveyard? permanents? okay I drew 2 off this card, why do you have x?" etc. (NB! This is prudent if your opponent is actually cheating, but makes you a prick if you're just throwing an accusation out there on the chance that your opponent is cheating/screwed up.)
Something I found more comical than annoying, but still wasn't cool, was every player responding to me post game at the M15 prerelease with "Why are you maindecking plummit, two naturalises and a reclamation sage, they are so situational!" when they single-handedly won me every game bar one that day (And, had I been able to draw any of them, would have won me every game that day.)
Also, I always say good game when I lose, but I wait for my opponent to say it if I won and I thought that they had gotten a bad run.
I have to admit, when I evoke some nerd rage over card choices I feel a perverse satisfaction. However, if it goes too far it can definitely be annoying.
I was in a Theros full block draft on MTGO and first picked Daring Thief, which led to some very strange card priorities going forward. The first guy I played went insane when I swapped my Ephara's Radiance for his Thassa, God of the Sea, and it just got worse from there.
He went very abusive as he lost, and I poked the bear with an "I win, and you do that other thing...".
He then proceeded to go into the between rounds chat to try and tell everyone what I had in my deck, which was a bit over the top.
My main peeve is with absurdly slow play.
I let it slide in pre-releases because everybody's having to read and understand the new cards, but it's situations where it's like turn 1-2 and they're taking 5 minutes to contemplate playing card A or card B with a deck they built the day before, surely common sense dictates you attempt to understand the cards you've put in your deck while or shortly after building it, or am I being too pretentious?

This made me laugh.

Another trait I dislike are players who automatically start looking for cheating the moment it looks like they're losing. People who play loose and fast as long as they are winning, and then suddenly "how many cards are in your hand? graveyard? permanents? okay I drew 2 off this card, why do you have x?" etc. (NB! This is prudent if your opponent is actually cheating, but makes you a prick if you're just throwing an accusation out there on the chance that your opponent is cheating/screwed up.)
Also, I always say good game when I lose, but I wait for my opponent to say it if I won and I thought that they had gotten a bad run.
