You can use whatever inventory program you want, post it as a list on MTGS, bookmark your MTGS trade/sales list on your phone That's how I always look at what I have and what I'm looking for when trading.
I use a simplistic google doc for my cards, as i have them in a giant excel sheet allready (how many i have, which language, foil, etc.).
A friend of mine puts all his cards in a sell market with "high" prices. So he knows what he has, and even gets the bonus that some random dude will buy his over expensive cards (which randomly happens from time to time).

Would you be willing to share your spreadsheet with us? Maybe the layout will be a good starting point. There is not point in re-inventing the wheel right?

Could you give me an example of an inventory program? Then I only have to do another inventory for the trades/sales and use dropbox right?
I've seen a lot of different options: Magic Album, MWS, excel, collection tracker, deckbox, mtg studio, decked builder, the vault, magic assistant. I think I'll choose Decked builder for it's multiplatform connectivity.
was thinking of writing my own mtg inventory app for android that can track values over time. might do it over summer. also, excel is very good for the non techsavvy user - you can use a data connection. it requires no programming knowledge. if you want i'll make an example and post it here.
It would be great to have an example. Maybe I use excel finally because decked builder for windows is expensive.
Deckbox is what I use, and it is really handy. However, I tend not to update my database while I am out, preferring instead to note down the trades I made through the night and update my database when I get home.

I have a Google Drive account, and on it I created a spreadsheet with every card up till now, or at least that's the goal. There are a few odds and ends that I haven't got to yet, like the duel decks and promo cards, but it works. I'm trying to make it more user friendly, but just to let you know, there is a LOT of work involved if you are trying to maintain an inventory of all your cards.
This is what I use, and I can sort and pull info from there into other spreadsheets. You can add columns if you want to throw in pricing information. I maintain it; as a new set is released, I type and add it to the Base and my inventory. I'm thinking of breaking it down to make it more manageable (Legacy, Modern, Standard, Extras) rather than one large spreadsheet. I will probably make it a more expansive spreadsheet in the future (with casting costs and texts, etc.), but that's definitely an ongoing project for the far future, due to time constraints. If anyone has some ideas, please let me know.
Google Docs was the way I went as well. It will link with any portable device online or offline and is easy to print if need be. For each new set, just quickly add a new tab and copy a checklist over from magiccards.info and you are good to go. I personally also keep a tab that has the location (i.e. what deck) so I know where I can find it. If you need a copy of it, just pm me.
