I've often wondered where Wizards comes up with the names for characters in the Magic storyline, how design finds them or thinks them up.
Recently, I went back to play an old video game I enjoyed called Advent Rising, and it occurred to me that, ironically or consequently, the main character's name is Gideon.
Now, this is no reason to cause me to assume that Magic's Gideon received his name from a Wizards employee who played Advent Rising, but then I remembered that the main alien race in the game are called the Aurelians (striking resemblance to Aurelia - the Boros guild master). Pretty neat consequence, right?
I'm not claiming this is a source for Magic's character names, but I want to open up this thread and see if any of you have found Magic-unique names in other places, that they might questionably be where Wizards got the names from?
Feel free to share whatever you find, could be a fun experiment.

Old enough to know better, much too young to care.
Well, Aurelia(/us) means "the golden one" in latin, so that ones also rather classical.
Indeed, to the point where it was the name of Julius Caesar's mother.
I can't think of MTG names showing up elsewhere without having alternate source materials.
Kamahl is a rather common name.
Jeska is an obvious shortening of Jessica.
Phage is a suffix denoting something that consumes (eats) something else.
Karona appears in many places and is pronounced similarly to Carona, which is an actual word.

Are there other games, comics, etc. with names also used in the Magic universe?
