Each player takes a pack, shuffle it with 3 copies of each land and plays. Don't look at the cards in pack but make sure to take out the token and or info card. Called pack attack
Wait, you need to find a way to make that addiction MORE fun? I can think of few things I rather do in a card shop then crack open packs. I mean hell, it's not at all that common for me, my friends, or most anyone else at the shop to hover over someone with prize packs or buying packs to ask if they want some help cracking them open, we're like vultures. It's a good way to scratch that itch, feed that addiction without having to spend a single dime. And if someone is there to crack open a box...oh man, it's like a feeding frenzy.
I would reccomend just saving them for a draft. Cracking a pack can be exciting...but only for a few seconds. Drafting, on the other hand, can provide hours of enjoyment!

Mana Memory
I just made this up as I'm typing this. I'll probably try it out the next time I open a pack.
Open your pack. Do not look at the Magic cards.
Remove any tokens/ads/lands.
Place all the remaining cards face down on a table/playmat.
Starting life is 7 for easy, 5 for normal, and 3 for hard.
Flip a face down card face up. Then flip a second face down card face up. If the cards share at least one color, leave both cards face up. If they do not share a color, flip both face down and lose 1 life.
The game ends when you run out of life or have less than two cards face down. Score 1 point for each card that is face up at the end.
Scrabble Pack Wars
Suggested by one of my local players. You can try it solo.
Open your pack.
Remove any tokens/ads.
The remaining cards are your scrabble pieces, with each card counting as either the first or last letter. (example: "Anax and Cymede" would count as either "A" or "E")
Make a word or phrase using as many of your scrabble pieces as you can. The more cards you are able to use, the better your score.

1) Open a pack.
2) Select a player who doesnt know the contents.
3) Stick a card onto that player's forehead.
4) Reveal only the color and casting cost but not any other charactertistics of the card.
5) Provide information that does not conflict with 4) to the player.
6) If the player guess correctly, in 3 minutes, reward him with a raisin!
The only reason to crack packs at all is because you think it's "fun" and have a grudge against your wallet... if you need to make up a game to make cracking packs by yourself fun... maybe you ought to re-think things?
For instance, a solo variation of pack wars or similar?
Use one pack to make a 30 card deck per regular Pack Wars.
Use another pack to make a 14-15 card "Horde" without looking at the cards. Treat any lands and non-token advertisement cards as nameless colorless typeless 2/2 token creatures. Maybe a small "Horde" only qualifies as a "Pack". Hmm...
Defeat the enemy "Pack" as if you were playing "Horde Magic".

Anyone have ideas for fun games I can play when cracking packs at home? For instance, a solo variation of pack wars or similar?
Thanks!

The next day try and remember where drunk you hid all the packs!
(unless of course drunk you just poured gravy on the packs and ate them)

Open a pack face down. Tear the cards in the rare and foil slot in half. Now flip over your pack and see what you destroyed!
Game is best played with multiple players and an audience.
