Can someone explain to me how Karn's ultimate was chosen not to bring back players who have lost in a multiplayer match. By all means, restarting the game should resurect those players.

Thats a little out of the scope of this forum. The fact is in a multiplayer game when Karn's ultimate resolves, it only restarts the game for players still in the game. Those who have left the game do not come back. The reason it works that way is because the Magic Comprehensive Rules state that it happens that way.
If you want to know why Wizards choose for it to happen that way, that is a discussion for another forum.
And since there's no way to know MaRo or Matt Tabak's intent in writing the comp rules that way, I'm closing the thread. Please feel free to send the question to Ask MaRo; I'm sure they'd probably answer it.
