Heroes reunion is suddenly playable as pretty much a dark ritual for any color of mana. Turn 1 show and tell for 6 life? Heck yes. Magic would be very busted indeed if you could pay 2 life for each mana. Force of will, ironically enough, wouldn't be playable over something like counterspell.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
"A rich man thinks all other people are rich, and an intelligent man thinks all other people are similarly gifted. Both are always terribly shocked when they discover the truth of the world. You, my dear brother, are a pious man." - Strahd von Zarovich
Burn with lands would beat the mirror, yes. But it wouldn't have many turn 1 kills and thus lose to a lot of other decks. It would be a metacall, but if you play landless burn you could have a sideboard full of lands.
You have lands, but you still have the ability to cast things for life. So when your opponent dumps a good deal of life into his turn one kill, you respond by burning the rest of his life. That's your turn one kill.
Wow, I think as far as unexpected busted cards go, this one takes the cake for me. It just seems so innocuous being one W for a 1/1 common creature giving you all your life back.
As for other funny shenanigans I can think of, any of the shadowmoor/eventide deities that cost 5x hybrid mana would be somewhat entertaining along with primalcrux. However, one card worth noting that people haven't yet mentioned is angel's grace if you're confident of going into the negatives while winning this turn. Also, Lich would be kind of funny in a Shivan Meteoring your Phyrexian Negator kind of way.
Why is everybody just bashing the idea for being too combo-y, etc. when there are OBVIOUSLY ways to make a weaker version of the same concept?
Several examples off the top of my head:
1) "All colorless mana is phyrexian"
2) "All but the first mana of any one color is phyrexian" so like BBGGG becomes BG:sympg::sympg:
3) "Any one mana from a card's cost is phyrexian, if the CMC is 2 or higher."
4) "Mana of colors that your cards could produce is phyrexian" So BBGGG if you only have swamps on the field becomes :sympb::sympb:GGG
These or any of a number of other changes could make it so that this does not just lead to instant combos, or trivial 5 color decks, or whatever. While still reducing mana screw and/or color screw issues.
Because this is not the premise presented in the OP - it specifies that all coloured mana symbols are replaced with their Phyrexian counterparts.
Yes... but the OP's motivation was to deal with mana screw. And what is the most efficient way to help him toward that goal? Just shooting down the first draft idea and walking away? Or revising it into something more workable to get at the desired solution?
If your neighbor came to you and asked "My cat is stuck in a tree. Do you think it's a good idea to get it down with a fire hose?" would you just say "Nope" and wander off? Or would you say "No. But perhaps a ladder would be an appropriate alternative?"
I think the suggestion is actually a really good one. But just not in its initial form. A weaker version could still take the edge off of mana screw, without breaking the balance of the color pie or making certain strategies vastly more powerful. The basic concept is a pretty clever way to give alternatives to mana when you don't get enough lands, without really interfering with basic deck design or invalidating very many existing card types.
Just a freindly reminder. The Mental Misstep era was dominated by Aggro-Control and Tempo. Combo was nearly wiped out completely, and plain aggro was kinda okay. It was the combination of FoW and MM that really broke things.
Obviously these are different circumstances, but I felt it was worth noting.

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.

Number 4 is a really good idea. If you have the ability to produce blue mana, you can have the option of paying blue mana as phyrexian mana. If that was implemented for Mental Misstep , then it would be fairly balanced because you still need a blue mana source to play it, phyrexian mana or not.

Actually, read the OP carefully again. You'll see that while he opened his statement mentioning mana screw, it wasn't really the true purpose of his topic. This topic is like a fun discussion exercise about how things may work in a bizarro universe where one of these fundamental rules is completely different. That said, the people who are bashing this idea for being broken are also missing the point of this topic.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Heroe's Reunion would only get you one mana and one life. A Lotus Petal that gains you one life is good, but it's not Dark Ritual.
Show and Tell still costs two colorless.

EDIT: I do like your number 4 idea by the way.
