Well, the worst time this ever happened to me was when I bought all the planeschase sets. I opened the Ninja deck, and it was full of....cascade O.o
Luckily, I opened it at the store, so they gave me another one.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
this comment makes no sense. they print millions and millions of cards annually, and the logistics of print runs are very complicated. i would guess their quality control would be >99% accurate.
for every CMD precon missing a few cards, there are the "future sight" cards that slip into the current packs (i.e. the Rootborn Defences), or the FNM mailings that are accidentally full of judge promos... but no one ever complains about those!
Why are people such apologists? The commander decks aren't even remotely complicated to print. It's not random, there are no extra foils to deal with, there aren't tip cards and tokens to worry about, etc. It's the same cards every single time. This seems to be a somewhat regular problem, at least with minor errors, based on this thread. The MTGS forums are a very small fraction of the playerbase. Even a few people with missing cards here means a ton of missing cards total.
I hope nobody who was playing in Legacy Champs or Bazaar of Moxen this weekend got precons lacking cards like True-Name Nemesis.

I have no clue how you came to this conclusion. Out of the hundreds or thousands of users that use this forum, only a handful have reported a problem with their deck.
But you think that because a thread about printing errors has a lot of posts about printing errors, then clearly there are a ton of problems with this print run?

Hundreds of thousands of users? There are 129,000 registered members. I'd guess a huge percentage have only ever been here once, haven't been here in ages or are duplicates of other people. Of the remainder, the vast majority almost certainly didn't even glance at this thread, don't care enough to respond and/or didn't buy the commander product. Do you really think more than a few hundred people have even looked at this thread, if even?
The thread is a question: who has had errors? There are responses from people who have and people who haven't. I see no reason why it would be skewed. Everyone who bought and opened the product, has visited this forum since the thread was created and has read this thread is probably equally likely to respond, whether they had an error or not. Do you have some evidence for why they wouldn't?

People who don't have any errors but visit this thread are reasonably less likely to respond as they don't have a similar story. The question posed was "was anyone else missing any cards?", not "I want statistical data. Were you missing cards or not?" Given the tone of the initial post, it's more likely to engender similar responses of missing cards; those players will be more empathetic to the OP's experience.
I, for one, found no issues with my Bant or my Grixis decks, and had no intention of posting here until I saw your comment.
I opened a Onslaught tournament deck recently that was missing a rare. It still had a Polluted Delta in it so I thought it would be greedy to complain.
I bought 3x "Snake's Path" Kamigawa precons from a local card shop (not a game store, they just sell sports and gaming cards), and two of them had the correct deck (including the Sensei's Divining Top) but one had a totally different precon inside the box :/ And yes, the original wrapping was still in place; it was just a packaging error.

Seconded, only I have only picked up Jund and Grixis.
I bought the Jund, Grixis and Naya decks. Haven't opened Naya yet, but in my Grixis deck, my Jenara was destroyed. Smashed corner, big scratch/indentation...and the Fog Bank and Augur were also damaged. I hope Wizards will replace the Jenara for me because I wanted to use her as my Commander.
Same problem, my Jeleva oversized was beat to hell, which was ok - I could live with that, but when I cracked open the cards the bottom right corner of the real Jeleva was smashed in a good 4-5 cm. Completely unplayable in a sleeve even....

That wasn't really the point. The point is more that it's absurd to think that if ten people respond here with issues, all 130,000 MTGS users have purchased the product and only 10 have had issues. I wasn't saying that if 50% in this thread have issues, 50% in the world have issues, but that the number of responses in this thread (given the very small percentage of MTG players that actually look at and respond to these forums regularly) means that a pretty solid percentage of the decks probably have errors. If 1,000 MTGS users who purchased commander decks saw this thread and ten had issues, that still means 1% of the decks are messed up, which is a terrible percentage for WOTC.
Although there are enough "mine's fine" responses here to make it fairly obvious that it's not only a thread for people to report their issues.
So maybe I don't expect 100% of commander boosters to contain the exact same cards. Even Apple, with their extreme quality control, has Macs and iPhones that are occasionally defective. But I do expect them to have control over things like cardstock. If you've purchased Korean, Russian, or a few other foreign cards recently, you'll notice that they use a different cardstock than English cards. This is probably because they didn't want to spend extra money shipping our cardstock to Korea. Either way, it's indicative that they value money over user experience.
What Wizards really should do is force brick and mortar stores to accept returns directly on behalf of Wizards and compensate the stores for having to ship their product back.

It just doesn't make economic sense to ship paper across the world for the game. In asia especially when there is already VERY tight competition in the TCG and CCG market they need every advantage they can get. Additionally even cards in america have a slightly different feel between sets.

Or make it worth your while to send the defective product back to them. They throw in goodies to cover the cost of shipping back to them. In my experience, it was well worth it. I WANT to find another defective product. (legally, not as a scam on the good folks at Wizards)
Same problem, my Jeleva oversized was beat to hell, which was ok - I could live with that, but when I cracked open the cards the bottom right corner of the real Jeleva was smashed in a good 4-5 cm. Completely unplayable in a sleeve even....
Yeah I got this to but to a lesser degree. My Sydric oversized foil had a few dings here and there. But also there is this weird dirt on the bottom of the card. Sharuum also had a few dings here and there, but Oloro was OK. Some cards in the preconstructed deck had the right side showing white border wear too. It's odd because only a couple cards showed this.
I bought the elusive manuvers (bant) deck and had an island miscut, I never would've noticed until one of the guys playing pointed it out to me in a 5 way edh game using the precons. Out of the five of us nearly 25 decks bought and that was the only error noticed besides one of the oversized maraths was scuffed up from caved in packaging, which was caused when he dropped it trying to grab all 5 of his decks.

Bought Eternal Bargain yesterday and found it was missing a Swamp, and had a miscut Crosis charm (top right corner sqare, but folded from packaging), and slight dents on oversized Oloro from packaging. Nothing too serious thankfully.
My friend bought Evasive Manuvers and Marath's deck. I believe it was Marath that was missing a card, but he didn't investigate what was missing.
ITT: A bunch of people who now have the opportunity to get free stuff from Wizards just by purchasing the right product.
I got a Anax and Cymede during a draft that was covered in black specks on the front and weird trapezoid marks on the back. As soon as I get the receipt for the box from the person who bought it, I intend to send it in and look forward to any goodies sent back. I highly suggest you all do the same and see this as a positive.

They do compensate you for finding defective product, but it's a lot more of a hassle for people to ship something in than to go to a store and do an exchange or refund. I've heard that a lot of people have switched from Windows to Mac based on the fact that they can go to a store and get their product fixed or refunded, regardless of origin.
In my rtr booster box last year, there was a pack with no rare. I contacted them, and they wanted me to pay for S&H as well as write a letter as to what happened. It was finals week and I was starting a retail business. It ended up being a huge hassle, and I decided not to do it. Since then, I've stopped buying boosters. The only time I ever open boosters is if I buy a draft or play sealed, where your boosters are immediately replaced by the store if defective.
Back on topic.. I highly doubt that they're struggling to make a profit. They'll end up decreasing profit margins by improving quality control, but at least they'll retain customers. The problem right now is that they're gaining so many more customers than losing them that it doesn't matter what they do.
