For FNM tonight, I sat in a six-man pod where one guy pulled a Purphoros ($25), another pulled an Elspeth ($40), and a third pulled a Thassa ($18), a Xenagos ($25), and a Thoughtseize ($40) (and later got an Elspeth in his prize pack, which I'm sure is neither here nor there). I myself cracked a foil Elspeth ($80).
At time of writing, that comes to $228 contained in 6 cards (by Starcity reckoning).
So tell me: when did you sit at a table that had people unwrapping chase rares like toilet paper?
I drafted a couple times with friends on a very nicely carved solid-rosewood dining table that must have cost a small fortune. Richest table I've ever drafted at.
We're also a week after set drop when most cards are carrying their ridiculous Preorder inflated prices. In a month or two, most of the cards you mentioned won't be worth much.
Foil ashen rider. Elspeth. Xenagos. Ashiok. Stormbreath Dragon. 3ish scry lands and an assortment of other mid value rares like heros downfall, chained to rocks, ect.
Modern Masters is pretty tough to top - pack #3 in one draft for me had Sword of Light and Shadow, Path to Exile, and Spell Snare foil. My lone Theros draft I opened Elspeth and Thassa (fortunately not in the same pack).
Well we did a draft with Foil Alara packs once, so that was pretty cool. Foil elspeth, foil maelstrom pulse, commons and uncommons with good value...
Triple Worldwake would probably be another good one with many rares worth a few bucks at least, and probably one person with a JTMS

...The cards were nothing special, though.
Came to this thread for the "I drafted at a jewel-encrusted bauxite table built of sacred Bonsai tree wood baked seven times in ovens deep in the Alps by dwarves." Leaving satisfied.
I drafted invasion block on mtgo once when the packs were over $10 each. I remember opening a foil flametongue kavu and an orim's chant in my planeshift pack, and getting beat down by a spiritmonger. Chant and Monger were both somewhere around $100 at the time, and the foil kavu was $30.
Other than that, Modern Masters is the next obvious choice. I opened a foil Sword of Light and Shadow, and there was a Confidant and Clique pulled as well. I'm sure there's a few instances of a foil goyf and normal goyf being pulled in the same draft pod.

O_O;; You're right. I was looking at the Lorwyn printing. My math is now lies.

foil goyf, cryptic command, elspeth, kiki-jikki, maelstrom pusle. it was ridiculous the amount of money that came out of that pod.
