He picked it up from SCG about a two years ago (supposedly).
His other time walk ended up being fake, and this is another he showed me that seemed a lot more real. The only concerns I have are the non-strait border around the bottom portion.
I don't know man, it might just be the camera angle, but it looks way too dark.
It also has a weird pattern overlaying the card, I know this is just the way thet put art on cards, but you never see it as clearly as this. This is obviously different compared to other cards.
I'm just comparing it to other pictures, and I could be wrong, but I'd really suspect this of being fake.
How well do you know the person with it?
Does it have a different feel to other cards of similar age?
Can you see light through the card?
These are much brighter, you can see the art much clearly, and they don't have the obvious pattern over the card (not sure what that's actually called) that this one does.
If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring

Thanks for the reply.
He says that the scanner had it come out really dark. I'm only communicating via pictures/chat so I don't have a feel to go by.
Well the bottom border seems consistent with the other pictures of time walk on the internet, if that was you rmain concern.
Personally mine would be that his other time walk was a fake.
He can take a picture of it and not send you a scan, there are very cheap high quality cameras around.
I mean we are talking about an extremely extremely expensive card here, you should get a real picture of it.

Well, he's not trading it. He was just noting he bought it from a vendor. I'm going to ask for a photo though and post back.
So this is a friend that just happened to get shafted once and get a fake one, and now he has a new one and wants to know if it's real, right?
EDIT:
The picture makes me think that it's legit. I'm no expert, and obviously it's just a picture, but I'd be pretty confidant that it's real.
Just tell him to make sure he can't see through it, and that it feels like a magic card.
I once got traded an expensive yu-gi-oh card and I found out the next day that you could see the sun through it, then I realized that the back of it was slightly brighter than other yu-gi-oh cards. It absolutely sucked. I've never seen a fake magic card, but I'm sure someone would go through great lengths to try to fake an expensive card like time walk.

I traded for a Time Walk that ended up being fake, and after talking with him I wanted to verify that he wasn't just scamming me with fake Power Nine so I asked him to scan his mint Time Walk.
It turns out that the two he bought in a collection were fake, and I guess from the replies i've received that his second one was fake and he isn't running some sort of scammer operation.
Looks legit to me, I'm no scientist though. The easiest thing to look for is the dithering on the card with the text being very sharp. I'd also trust SCG if that is indeed where you friend got it from, I doubt they'd want to be known selling fake cards.

Looking for a second opinion.

Compare to this: http://magiccards.info/scans/en/un/84.jpg
Or an image of an actual card from starcitygames http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=376355

Basically. Also, ways to test if the other cards are fake because the first ancestral recall (also identified as fake) passed the water and bend test.

as someone else said. light test is a good way. it will allow any inconsistency in the card stock to show.
a large majority of fakes can not pass the light test. Take an unlimited planes and use a high power light and see if they are the same....
From the scan I didn't notice anything.

Thought that was revised? Perhaps I'm wrong.
I have a card - nothing valuable of course - in both Unlimited and Revised editions - and Unlimited is definitely a hell of a lot darker.
