So awhile back I made a thread looking for information on how to detect fake/counterfeit magic cards for a video I'm in the process of making.
Some of the quickly noticeable things to look for I had picked up included:
Noticable discoloration
Glossier finish (taking into account print runs)
Tight cuts around corners
The next things required some sort of tools:
Light test
Loupe examination (dots)
Loupe examination (blue line)
Black light examination
Weight examination
Thickness examination
And last, risky tests:
Bend Test
Water test
Of these, I have yet to perform:
Black light
Weight
Thickness
and I haven't had my hands on a single fake magic card (ever ).
I know what to look for in each of these tests, and my question to you all is: is this comprehensive enough? Am I missing something? Is there some form of examination I should be looking out for, and are their resources that tell what print runs had what issues? I know some foreign prints have discoloration issues, and from time to time it's not uncommon to see that in english sets. I know that most pre-cons today have a glossier finish to the cards. I understand that some cards have a black inside instead of a blue one. I understand that sometimes the water or bend test can fail in both directions. And I've seen very questionable light tests that had to be reconfirmed with side line loupe examinations.
Oh, and as a present for you all, some pictures of the "blue line" that you want to look for with a loupe.

Well, I have a few fakes, not the best quality, but they pass in a sleeve, if you wanted some for video I could send you a couple. (Note: I didn't make these, they were in a box from a yard sale, and I would only send them if they were to be used/destroyed (IE bend test) on video to help other players. Just adding this to keep within forum rules.)
