KMC's are the way to go. As sturdy as dragon-shields but much more dirt-proof and with actual quality control. The only bad thing is they're so shiny you'll see a whole crime scene of fingerprints on each but I'd rather that than big chunks of dirt making them stick to each other like with DS or splitting after two games like UP.
This. I have used KMCs since I started. It is probably the best quality for the price. I used to use the Standard Sleeves that were slick on the back but recently switched to the Matte sleeves which are only a $1 or so more. Comes with 80 which is enough for sideboard and maindeck with 5 extra sleeves. Right now Starcity has the brown Matte Sleeves for $5
My friends have been saying that KMC Hyper Mattes are the best sleeve around and are trying to convince me to use my Hyper Mattes on my collection. I'm still using my KMC Super Metallic Blues and love how they are (except sometimes it's a bit hard to mash shuffle with them).
I used Ultra Pro Mattes in the past and liked how they shuffled but hated how the sleeve sorta makes the card look foggy and they split when you look at them.
I got three double sleeved decks in the KMC Supers, is it worth switching to the Hyper Mattes? I'd be using my Ultra Pro sleeves from 2001 if I had more of them, those were amazing in quality.
Old Ultra Pros were great, I have a casual deck in ones I bought back in 98' when they still came in a box, and they are all fine, not a single split or crease. I also have my Legacy burn deck in Ajani Vengeant ones from when Alara came out, have played at least a thousand games with those and they're fine.
On the other hand I bought the Teysa ones from Dragon's Maze and they started splitting after three games.

I have not tried the Hyper Mattes yet....the plain matte ones work great though!
Are any of the Dragon Shield colors being built like the turquoise ones yet? I have been using Turquoise for a couple weeks now and love them. I want more of this style.
Also in regards to Ultra Pro perfect fits, I have my entire EDH deck and a modern deck sleeved in them and they are fine. They do have a rougher seam than KMCs though.
How much bigger does it make them? I notice that my dragon shield EDH is noticeably taller than my ultra pro sleeved EDH deck and as I'm realizing the ensnaring bridge and land tax and sliver queen etc.. are worth quite a bit I'm wanting a bit of extra protection for these guys and thinking about using the perfect fits or something similar. thanks
I thought dry would be good for cards. I have mine in a room that fluctuates from 40-50% humidity and 75-81 degrees F. They don't ALL seem to bend just a few in a few sleeves (like the ones I grabbed off amazon that had a cool design on the back).
Bought some regular KMC sleeves on Friday, but I just got around to placing my Modern deck into them. They seem nicer than the Dragon Shields I had been using previously, but I need to play them to be sure... and they smell amazing. I wasn't expecting that at all.
If these don't work out (much like Dragon Shield, Ultra-Pro, and Legion didn't), I'll probably try KMC Hyper-Matte after this. Was going to get them instead of regular KMC, but my LGS didn't have any.
so on sleeves bending cards...you guys have experience with that? It looks like my Dragon Shields are making a slight forward bend as if the front clear part is shorter than the back green part.

What don't you like about Dragon Shield? I love them.

They just accumulate dirt and damage so quickly that it's really sad. They feel fine, but I'm worried about how much they're actually protecting my cards.
yea but why do they have to come in packs of 80?!?!??!
While I don't actually know the official reason, having their sleeves come in packs of 80 is ideal for me. It can be a bit of a pain when I want to sleeve EDH decks in them, but if I'm building a new Standard/Modern/Legacy deck, it is ideal, as it is enough sleeves to sleeve up the main 60 plus the 15 in the side, leaving 5 extra backup sleeves in the event that one or two split on me.
Yea, if I were as heavy into building standard deck sizes I would be more interested but ATM I have a serious commander bug @_@ Might still get a bunch of the perfect fits though to start double sleeving.
Anybody have ideas on straightening out cards that a crappy set of sleeves bent? (I'm still cautious of my dragon shields). I've got a 10lbs book squishing them in 15 count stacks ontop of another book but...not going so well.
My regular("super"?)KMC sleaves quickly had the backing come off at the corners something that doesn't happen with dragonsheilds.
Hypermat have been really great for me though... I shuffle "hard" but the ridgid hard plastic sleaves makes it impossible for me to shred the corners like I do on everything else. I have only ever seen the clear ones I didn't know you could get colours. Packs of 80 suck though
My EDH decks are in "Fanatsy flight" sleaves as in the people that make board games like "game of thrones". They are fairly cheap and fit well (they are slightly smaller larger than standard) come in packs of 50. EDH players don't care if the corners are coming up a bit and it isn't as dramatic as it is for my KMC "super". I'd rate them as pretty good.
KMC Hypermat: Amazing. Dragonshields: Great, Fanatsy flight: pretty good, KMC "super": alright but you have to be careful with them. Ultra pro: truely awful.
I have some anime sleeves my friend bought for cheap in Japan (I don't know what anime they are from only that people tried to buy them off me when I told them I had no idea) they don't break as such but I can't suffle them because the backing and the card sleeve seperate like they are only glued in the middle of the sleave.
Other than that I have never seen the other brands. I don't think I have owned dragonshield except I have these amazing sleeves that look and feel like dragonshields but they are blue but not dragonshield blue more grey blue and come in only a pack of 60 I have no idea where we got them.. somewhere on the internet... I wish I didn't throw out the pack but it has been a long long time now.
Hypermat is actually cheaper than dragonshields here I assume that is because we are closer to Japan than the USA.
Anyone know when the Ultra Pro Pro Slayers are supposed to be out? I thought the release date was May. Apparently not.
third hand information (my FLGS owner says his distributor rep says Ultra Pro) says sometime in July. And they were supposed to be out a long time ago, something must have happened to delay them.

Thanks. Yeah I am guessing poor product testing with early adopters. I don't know what else could delay them because I think they were originally slated for April or May. Regardless I look forward to trying them. Hopefully Ultra Pro has been listening to feedback.
thanks for the comparison of fantasy of flight stuff. They have a ton of cool graphics but I've been hesitant. Wish legion didn't have such a bad wrap. Am I the only person that hates mono-coloring his sleeves with multicolored decks? Gimme a gradient at least!! gaga

Nope, I have an entire deck that's foil in perfect fits and they lie as flat as when I got them. Non-foil too.

Maybe they're actually meant for another game but just happen to perfectly fit MTG.
