Hey, so I just got like almost 500 cards mixed from my dad and from the guy who lived in my apartment before me, that's what sparked my dad to give me all of his old cards. I was looking at prices of some of them online because although I do plan to play, I still need some money. I cam across two of the same cards both with the same sig. Is it anyone important?
I have this Phyrexian Dreadnought I paid 25$, it is a Pete Venters signature but I don't know if it's legit, I wanted to complete my foil phyrexian page and I thought 25$ was a good deal for this one. So, thoughts?
Sorry, I don't know how to post it in a spoiler icon, a mod can do so if desired

If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it!

Yup, that is completely legit. Haven't signed too many of that type of Dreadnought actually, so, bonus!
So, i recently came into possession of this card, and just happened to notice a doodle and a signature on the bottom. Upon further reflection, the signature says Todd Lockwood, but there's something else next to it.
I was wondering if anyone can credibly say if its' fake or not, i've attached the pic and it is in spoiler brackets.
Thanks for your help! (Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i honestly had no idea where to put it.)
EDIT: I've also uploaded the pic on FB for Todd Lockwood to see, hoping to get verifcation from him, but i'd love to have community input before he replies. Thanks!

Definitely not Todd. I don't know of any artist that signs with a stick pen anyways, save for some very early years.

Well, thanks for the input, there's still no response fro Todd, so I'll save hope for that 00.01% that it might be his, maybe he'd recognize it? Otherwise, it's nice to know i got a fake siggy on my hands.

So, Lockwood says he didn't sign it, but someone else might have, their initials are next to his name in the signature. So, all I gotta do now is figure out who's initials those are, IF they're someone worth mentioning.

Hello! I saw you've already posted Jeremy Jarvis signature, but it looks pretty different from the sigs on this picture. I would like to know if these two are for real or just fakes.
They look real. Signatures will always have a bit of variance because sometimes they are rushed or sloppy, especially if it came from the end of a long day at a convention.
The other thing to take into account is how rare the sig is and why it would be faked.
The one on the left and right are not the artist. Never seen the sig.
The one in the middle is Drew Tucker's sig who is credit on the card of the Revised-version of the Plateau. But the revised picture was actually drawn by Cornelius Brudi. Drew did the A/B/U-Version of Plateau where Cornelius Brudi was credit on the card.
So, Lockwood says he didn't sign it, but someone else might have, their initials are next to his name in the signature. So, all I gotta do now is figure out who's initials those are, IF they're someone worth mentioning.
Why would someone worth mentioning sign another artists name. That just seems silly.
Why would someone worth mentioning sign another artists name. That just seems silly.
Lot's of reasons...
- Honest mistake
- Misprint (see my post above concerning the Plateau)
- There is a story behind it (card originally scheduled for Guy A but he couldn't (sick) and so Guy B from the same studio did it
- Not an artist...there are people from WOTC who are asked to sign certain cards...or pro's
- Richard Garfield can sign everything
- The guy who is pictured on the card signed (I have a friend who looks VERY much like the male version of Storm Shaman. Her signed a card for me:D)

@Matt: The only artists I know of who regularly use ballpoints are Cleland-Hura and Fishman.

Looks like it to me. I have a couple he signed in my presence back in 1994. (Shivan Dragon & Lord of the Pit.)

#2 Has the words "I did not do this" up the side which I think was the wrong artist signed it and then realized it after it was too late.
What am I saying? For all I know my uncle Tony could have signed these, any help is appreciated thanks.
