I just recently started playing music with a couple friends and we were sitting around throwing out names for our band. Since our style is kind of heavy and crunchy like The Raconteurs, we were thinking of names that fit that. Off the top of my head and as a joke to myself (no one else plays Magic currently) I said "Chameleon Colossus." To my surprise, everyone loved the name and now that's what we're going with, haha! I haven't told my friends that Chameleon Colossus is the name of a Magic card yet but I doubt they'd care. Some of them used to play in the past.
Anyway, this got me thinking of two things:
1) What other Magic card names would be fitting for a band, and
2) Are there currently any bands that are MTG-themed? Kind of like the Minibosses are with old-school Nintendo games.
Chameleon Colossus is a GREAT band name. I think you could use a lot of different MtG terms for band names. i.e Cascade (new age band), The Planeswalkers, WUBRG (*giggle*), Duress (for a heavy metal band). I could go on all day.
Are there any recordings of you and your friends playing together? I'd be interested to hear what Chameleon Colossus sounds like.

Right now we're just messing around really. We're all from different bands that have just kind of stopped playing. So we're all taking it easy and writing/practicing before we start playing out again. No plans to record anything but when we do I'll definitely post some stuff.
These guys don't seem to have any relation to MTG other than their name being a creature ability (which after reading their websites I suspect was just a coincidence anyway). I'm looking for a band that openly says "we're a band inspired by MTG, here's our newest song called "Splash Green for Goyf." (or something along those lines, you get the point)

I saw a band, talked to them afterwards, and found out they named themselves after Serra Bestiary. Except they left out "Serra".
That's really funny. Chameleon Colossus is one I'd never thought of. Personally, since Guitar Hero 3 I've named my band xBenthicorex. I love the card (for no real reason) and the name is just awesome.
On a semi-related note, I tried to name my Guitar Hero band "Sea Shanties and Wet Panties" (from the movie Club Dread if anyone has ever seen it) but it wouldn't fit

"If the bad guys are just going to line up single file, they shouldn't call it the Battlefield, they should call it the Narrow Hallway."

while we don't have songs based on mtg, the name entirely is. look closer at pics of the drummer. the two little skull tats on his chest are black mana symbols. i don't have a pic handy and don't wear shorts in any of the pic up, but i have a lotus tat on my leg. the only one in the band that doesnt play is one guitarist.
I hope you're not serious, Raconteurs aren't the best band around but they're pretty amazing! Anything Jack White touches turns to gold IMHO. Dead Weather is really good too.
Some other cool names:
Planar Chaos
Sundering Titan
Furnace of Rath
It was funny, a while back the morningtide PR, they gave out green toques with the set logo on them. We were all laughing about what would happen if anyone on the street asked "What's Morningtide?" One guy chimed in with "They're a musical group, specializing in Tribal." Needless to say, the entire store burst out laughing.
For band names I would have to go with:
Rock
Spectral Force
Defiant Vanguard
Metal
Blitz Hellion
Crumbling Necropolis
Ichor Slick
Mindless Automaton
Necrosavant
Emo
One With Nothing
Also, I would probably acknowledge the existence of the Jonas brothers if they called themselves Sen Triplets.
And good job OP with the band name, that's awesome.
