My friend was 0-3 at fnm one day and was so frustrated playing control mirrors all day so when the opponent played an island he stared at it inquisitively for about ten seconds then said "oh man i dont have an answer for that" and scooped up his deck and conceded. I was rolling on the floor after witnessing it happen.

Well the guy played the best card in magic, what do you expect him to do? /Sarcasm. I sometimes feel like I can't beat my opponent going turn 1 island and I jokingly say so to the opponent who just played said island.
Can't think of anything off the top of my head that is noteworthy surrounding myself and opponents scooping prematurely.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
During AVR Prerelease, I was at 2 life, after getting beatdown by my opponent's Angel's Tomb + friends... I managed to miracle a terminus, clearing his board, and started beating him down with my Demonic Taskmaster while he ran out of gas... Anyway, it got down to the point where he was at 4 life, facing lethal from my taskmaster, and says "Okay, I gotta topdeck a creature or I lose." He draws, and scoops up his cards... I ask him what he drew, and it was a Pillar of Flame
I was testing a Selesnya Ramp deck I'd built online. The opponent was some sort of Azorius control, and the game had dragged off into topdeck mode. Luckily I was packing 4x Entreat the Angels
Then I topdeck one. I type "MIRACLE ENTREAT FOR 10!"
While not really funny, at the Worldwake prerelease my fourth round(final round) opponent came to me and told me to have the match win because he could care less about packs, and then shows me a foil JTMS and a regular one.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
I was playing draft one time and I was matched against the store owner, who had been having trouble with his mana all day, he gets land screwed and grumbles the whole time. After game one he starts to tell his deck that it better start performing for him or else he'll take a saw to it. He gets land screwed again and scoops. He then goes to the back of the shop and brings out a hacksaw and a clamp, clamps the deck to the table and cuts the thing in half grumbling the whole time. The entire shop was looking at him. It was hilarious.
I was playing a local modern event and was playing against a Second Breakfast deck. Turn four or five the guy manages to pull off the second sunrise combo twice. So after ten minutes of comboing off he flips through his hand, looks at his graveyard, flips through his hand again, looks at his graveyard, sits there and stares at his hand some more. I'm sitting across from him with my chin in my hand waiting to be combo killed, and he finally just scoops. I'm pretty sure my face was the equivalent of "WTF?". It was the most anti-climatic game of magic I've ever played.
Second game I side in all three of my Slaughter Games and manage to cast one turn four, naming Second Sunrise. He stares at it, says "that's good", scoops and gets up.

I actually convinced an opponent not to concede to me once, only to help him beat me several turns later. Does that count? I still counted it as a win in my book, since he didn't beat me, I did.
I got a lot of scoops during Zendikar/Scars/M12 and I played my U/G infect deck and I would play Turn 1 Glistener Elf, And my opponent draws his card for his turn 1 and scoops. Or when I use to play Turn 2 Inkmoth Nexus and my opponent would scoop because they had no way to deal with inkmoth nexus.

DCI Level 1 Judge-
Thanks to Heroes of the Plane for the awesome Sig.
So I was playing an EDH game earlier where it was me (Thromok), a Savra and a Sliver Overlord deck. Turn 4 or 5 the Sliver Overlord had a Plains, an Island and a Boros Garrison in play, the Savra player decides to cast Rolling Spoil targetting the Sliver Overlord's Boros Garisson, I respond with a Reverberate targetting his Island. He scoops up immediately. This is right after a game where he had been playing Zur and combo locked everyone out of casting spells.

A punk rock song won't ever change the world, but I can tell you about a couple that changed me
Me playing Game 2 against High Tide with a mono blue tempo deck (right before mental misstep was banned)
Him: 15 minute turn , I have 1 Island untapped and he played 3 High Tides. He goes to cast Blue Sun's Zenith for a bajillion.
Me: Misdirection targetting Blue Sun's, change to you.
Him: Cunning Wish for Pact of Negation (Force of Will was Surgically Extracted in some complicated fight over me trying to extract the High Tide with another Extraction and we both used a ton of Mental Misstep)
I was playing a G/B Melira deck when she was standard legal. I was matched up against an infect player.
I had only Melira on the board and she had been there for at least 1 turn. He swings in with some infect creature and I say "No Blocks". He gets this grin on his face and empties his hand...10 poison in one turn!
He extends his hand and says "Good Game". I point to Melira, he says "Oh, ****" and scoops.
In a Top 8 (aka no time limits), during our 80-minute game 3, my life has been well over 40 life for over 20 turns. He takes a few swings at me after stabilizing a board position with 2 Vedalken Shackles. He finally gets me to 19, and then 5. He's at 4. He tapped all his guys besides a few small dudes on the ground, and passes. I swing with my Serra Ascendant. He scoops his cards and says "I guess that's game."
That's what happens when you play for 80 minutes when the same game I'm always above 30 life until the last minute. lol. He was so pissed after I told him I just won with a 1/1 while he was still at 3 life.
During the last round of an FNM, my opponent is at 3 life. I Ultimate Price my opponents Thragtusk at end of his turn. He quickly acknowledges it, to which I quickly put into play Wolfir Avenger into play. He scoops his cards.
^ People shouldn't feel the need to play quickly if we have 20 minutes of time left. He tripped over his own feet for that, considering his deck was far superior and able to make fast comebacks.
congratulations on cheating at fnm. i bet you bragged to all your friends.
Here's an article that might help you stop cheating fellow players at fnm.
If your opponent scoops before triggers had any chance to resolve it's not cheating. If the opponent had stayed in the game he would have to point out the Beast trigger, but now he scooped in his endstep so nothing was technically wrong.
"I quickly put a wolfir avenger in play" if thats not admitting he recognized his opponent missed the trigger and tried to cheat then I dont know what is.
this just happened a few months ago
turn one opponet drops a island says go
turn 2 i drop cavern of souls naming humans followed by champion of the parish
opponet scoops says something vulgar about cavern and gets up and leaves it was only game on of the semi finals for that night i was kinda stunned lol
Cockatrice someday ago, Cavern > Champion in turn one, then got kicked. Of course I PM'd him asking for the guy to uninstall the game and go play some MMO (because that's what crying babies play), and then he was moaning because that play was unfair, that Humans was a good deck against Delver (not that I agreed, I was without Thalia), etc...
Anyway, last week, before the FNM started, had a game that was interesting - both players attacking like hell. If my memory is not mistaken and my life notes aren't wrong, he had 13 life, I had 7. After an well timed Blasphemous Act by me (last resort to restart the game), I played Silverblade Paladin and had zero cards on hand. He played Thundermaw Hellkite, attacked with it leaving me with two life. He said "Well, show me the Zealous Conscripts now." Then I topdecked it. He gave a little laugh, then left the store. I should have left with him right away, because I didn't win a single match that night after the incident (and we had no FNM).

Nothing. All I want is Heroes vs. Monsters spoilers.

I'm assuming that you're assuming "quickly acknowledges it" means you think the guy didn't put the 3/3 in after Thragtusk was killed, or something?
I believe he is saying that he believes that statement is an admission that he was putting the avenger into play quickly to distract his opponent.
it doesnt matter if he was trying to distract his opponent or not. thragtusks ability to put the 3/3 in play is also his responsibility. he cheated his opponent regardless.

Except it isn't anymore. If an opponent misses a trigger, you don't have to say anything.
except FNM is not a competitive REL and he is still responsible for his opponents triggers.
But you're assuming that the player missed the trigger that he got the 3/3 out. All that the post says is he killed the Thragtusk, and then cast the Wolfir Avenger.
His opponent still could've put out the 3/3, saw the Wolfir Avenger be cast, and scooped by mistake.
Plus, the Avenger could've been in response to the Ultimate Price, so the Avenger would come into place first, then Thragtusk gets killed, and then the 3/3 comes into play. Opponent has a brain fairt when the Avenger comes into play, scoops before Ultimate Price resolves and Thragtusk is killed, and there's no cheating or trigger missed.
Now, it's FNM, he could've said "whoa whoa, you've still got a chance", but you're reading way too much into his post to assume he cheated.

Just this last Friday at FNM, I was using my American Control deck against GW aggro. My opponent is at 30 life after playing 2 Thragtusks and I'm at around 16. I've played 2 Jaces and have used is -2 ability 3 times so my opponent knows some of the cards in my hand. I draw and play Tamiyo with a Chandra the Firebrand already in play with 5 loyalty counters and he scoops. I had a Feeling of Dread in the Graveyard and he knew I had 2 Supreme Verdicts and a Detention Sphere in hand. I also had a second Feeling of Dread, but he didn't know that.

Then I topdeck one. I type "MIRACLE ENTREAT FOR 10!"
On the opponent's next turn he Detention Spheres all my angels.
To my delight, I topdeck another Miracle Entreat next turn! "MIRACLE ENTREAT FOR 10!"
But my opponent had another D-Sphere on his turn and there go all my angels again.
I was just kind of fantasizing about the chances of ripping a third Entreat in a row.... and then that's exactly what happened.
