I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
this plus vampire hexmage back in zendikar standard all these were the core of the vampire deck which was pretty awesome (but had to compete with cawblade and valakut which were a struggle)

I won a multiplayer game on Sunday using a red/black vampire deck, and I'd say Rakish Heir was the key enabler in that deck. I didn't draw any of my Stromkirk Captains in the game, and realised later on that I didn't want to either. A single Rakish Heir and a couple of other vampires was all I needed.
Kind of loses slightly in usability in a vampire-only deck because there are no humans. On the other hand, such a deck could have something like Thatcher Revolt just to feed the Aristocrat...
Eh, she is good enough to run without having any humans to sac.
More fearsome hitting the table in 1996 than a Nocturnus today.
Sorin kneels down and calls him daddy
LOL. I concur.
For awhile Sengir vampires were more intimidating in my playgroup than Serra Angels which had no way of getting bigger on their own. Baron Sengir should also get a shout out for flavor, and Shauku, Endbringer was also pretty scary when she first came out. She may have a nice chest and dress on, but you'd still want a brown bag if you took her home late at night. Definitely a 'butterface' if I've ever seen one

The good old days, When legendary creatures were actually legendary. I remember trading a ridiculous amount of cards for the baron. Then feeling like a total badass having him in my deck even though I couldn't ever cast him.
First time I heard about shauku I couldn't believe that was a real card. Remove any creature from the game ? For only 3 life when lord of the pit did u 7 and force did u 8?

I know eh?...They were epic, but where was heartless summoning back then when we really needed it to make such cards viable? I know that feeling you're referring to though... I felt like a total boss as soon as I traded a bunch of cards for a Palladia-Mors to include in my eighty card five color monstrosity which I used to call a deck in my youthful ignorance.

I think any generic list probably starts w/Vampire Nighthawk though. Ridiculous card.

Check out the budget black legacy article on this site's home page. It contains a vamp list that has pretty much all of the good black ones.

Six of the best vampires "on curve," IMO.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I'd echo Vampire Nighthawk, and also Olivia Voldaren and Falkenrath Aristocrat.
Vampire Hexmage allowed me to take out a Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker that was about to ruin may day, so that too I'd say.

*rings a bell and yells "SHAME!"
There's also Necropolis Regent, Mirri the Cursed and Captivating Vampire.
Having Captivating Vampire + Bloodline Keeper or Call the Bloodline and Falkenrath Gorger around could be fun.
