I though of something. I've got many decks, and very little lands (relatively) and I saw people had a lot of lands in the EDH forum (enough to have all of the same art) as a way to pimp their lands.
I thought of a silly idea. I could pimp my lands cheaply.
I could ask people to grab 1+ basic land, sign it, and mail it to me. I'd use them in deck and take pics.
Is it a dumb idea or would it be cool?
That'd be my way of pimping.
Revised basics? I got lands from 40 different people!
This is actually an alright idea. I don't think many people would generally consider it pimp especially if it's just signatures from random forum folk or friends but as a personal touch I would think it's pretty cool. A friend of the family actually kind of did this for our wedding. He made a bunch of simple decks out of commons and uncommons and had them at the wedding in a box with a note telling guests to sign a basic land. Wedding guests then signed the cards and we got a nice memento. Of course noone read the sign and we ended up with a lot of random cards signed not just the lands but it was still really neat.

It's definitely an interesting way to go about it, and you would probably by definition have a unique deck due to the nature of what you are trying to do. I'd call that cool, and I'd be impressed, but some would look at it and go "wha?"

Or you could all sign them yourself. Not only is your deck P.i.m.p, you can also easily pass for a celebrity (mtg celebrity) when you tell them you signed your own cards. Use your imagination, tell them you worked at wizards for ten years, then decided to quit to participate in pro tours.
If you're short on basic land, ask around after drafts and events where a lot of product is opened. I'm sure there are plenty of players who would give over the basic lands they got to help out another player.
I've been using them to mock up cards for other games I'm working on but I've had as much as two booster boxes stuffed full and more then enough newer lands for my decks.

Umm, a bit too young to have worked there for 10 years.

My LGS keeps all the lands from drafts, as in even the lands opened in the new packs are kept. Noone ever offered lands to me there. Some offered to sell some.
Sounds dumb. Why would you want lands signed by random people? Why would I (a random person) bother to do this for you? How is this pimp at all?
But, to each his own.
I have to concur.
Feel free to get whoever you want to sign your cards, but know in advance that every card you signed by someone other than the artist (or perhaps a high ranking WOTC employee or game designer) is going to be considered damaged by default and virtually worthless to anyone other than yourself.
I'm a collector and I happen to know many other collectors and store owners. Rest assured that none of us would ever pay a penny for cards signed by random people from any mtg forum regardless of how many posts or how much play experience such persons may have. If I found out that you got a power nine card or some legacy staples signed by random nobodys (no offense to anyone on here, but your signatures aren't worth jack and you know it), I'd honestly be very upset with you. Doing something like that isn't only disrespectful to the cards, but also to those of us who would want them undamaged in our collections because we value and make the effort to preserve them.
Also, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but Revised lands aren't ever "pimp" by any definition and likely won't be for at least another ten years.
Alphas and Betas? Yes.
International Edition basics? Yes (but not legal to play with in any format due to squared edges)
Arena, Guru, and Portal lands? Yes
Arabian Nights Mountains? Definitely.
Full art and/or foil lands? Sure.
Granted, my opinion may be slightly biased because I don't even consider my original signed maze of ith "pimp" (because the back of the card is in moderately played condition), so I guess it's all relative to what else you and your playgroup have in your arsenals to use.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
My ideal pimp lands are Meignaud or Avon signed foil English Zendikar basics. Things like that and Beta/Guru/ect. are pimp. Getting 40 of each basic signed by random forum users sounds creepy. Getting them signed by friends, pros, or wotc employees sounds cool but not really pimp.
Should get Zac Hill to sign some Islands. Bet that would tilt him.

Basic.
Lands.
I'm sure you probably destroyed/threw out more of them than I ever did.
It's pimp cause it's cool. People find stuff pimp whatever they find cool. If I can get enough people to send me signed basics for all my decks I'd find it cool. If I somehow got a whole bunch of alpha basics I'd find the person giving them to me cool, but the cards themselves are cardboard.
You don't need to be so harsh about it, sheesh, I'm not gonna resell the basics on ebay claiming them to be the coolest thing ever. I don't even see what your post has to contribute, are you trying to brag?
I like this idea, get a bunch of people you like to sign one or two of your land, maybe MtG friends or family. I really like this actually. Nice touch!
Also can I join in reiterating that they're just Basic Lands. Collectors wouldn't be chasing them (unless it's the artist's signature/alter), and because they hold some significance to the owner, I doubt they'd be traded away. Go for it!

You DIRECTLY ASKED if people thought this idea was stupid. Why are you surprised somebody answered yes?

This has been done many times over, and is still being done now... just ask the YouTube MTG Community.
I can confirm this. If you don't want to trade on Youtube to get signed lands, just trade over this site and ask everyone you trade with to send a signed land. It takes longer to get, but they will mean much more to you

I asked if this was stupid, its a way for me to get lands (which will be cool) without spending money as I don't have much money to spend. He answers "You know, I am a collector, if you did this with expensive cards or rare ones it would suck! Also I got this cool card that I don't even consider cool."
Which doesn't have tons to do with the topic on hand. You know, read half of OP, then get mad and post without reading the rest? Anyhow, I'm not dwelling on the subject.
